Anthony Schwartz - Former Brown

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like the Coleman comp in terms of draft position.

To the "are receivers not drafted on traits" question, I guess the answer is "it depends."

The list of guys who went above Schwartz is pretty strong. The receiver classes the past two years have just been stupid deep and talented.

Ja'Marr Chase
Jaylen Waddle
DeVonta Smith
Kadarius Toney
Rashod Bateman
Elijah Moore
Rondale Moore
D'Wayne Eskridge
Tutu Atwell
Terrace Marshall Jr.
Josh Palmer
Dyami Brown
Amari Rodgers
Nico Collins

There are a lot of guys in there who were drafted on traits, including Nico Collins, the last receiver took before Schwartz. Tutu Atwell is really the only pick in that group that, based on scouting profiles, didn't belong.

The issue with Coleman seemed to be that he didn’t put in the work off the field. He had some elite traits, but he was a knucklehead drafted into a bad organization that didn’t have the infrastructure in place to develop him.

Schwartz, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have the off the field issues and he was drafted into a stable organization that does seem capable of developing players.

He runs a faster 40 than Tyreek Hill. If he can continue to work on the rest of his game this dude has game breaking potential.

Not sure what you guys expected. He ran the 2nd fastest 100m in the WORLD as a 17 year old. If he didnt pick football Schwartz would have made the Olympics most likely,

What I didnt expect was the fact he is a real WR. That short catch in traffic impressed me. Shows he has hands. Route running isnt bad, it will improve, but legit 4.1-4.2 40 time speed makes up for allot of mistakes in route running, lol.

I didn't expect him to work his way into the offense so quickly. Being extremely fast and having it translate to in-game opportunities don't always go hand in hand.

Here's my question:

He was a bad producer in college because of system and QB he had, much like DPJ. Are WRers in the draft graded too harshly on their production and not enough on traits?

Because I'll be honest, from the little I've seen, I think Schwartz has big, big potential. I knew he was fast but he runs decent routes already and has shown a willingness/ ability to attempt to high point on a contested catch.

If he keeps this up, and keeps producing, I don't know how teams stop the offense with OBJ, Schwartz, Landry, Njoku and Hunt on the field. Thats a QBs dream.

I'm wondering if the Browns have found a market inefficiency with going for high traits WRs with inefficient QBs and betting on improvement with some coaching. Seems like that's as good a spot as any to get a steal. Between Schwartz and DPJ, that's two years in a row we've drafted a WR who fits that profile.

I didnt either, i know he might be the fastest guy in the NFL, his speed is a bit unknown becuase he hasnt run the 40 healthy, but a 10.07 100m as a 17 year old just says allot if you are a track and field guy. I just didnt expect him to be a real WR, but it appears he is.

edit: For context, only one person in the history of high school athletics ever ran a sub 10 second 100m, and that was a kid last year at 9.98. Ever, 10.07 is so fucking fast for a 17 year old.

OBJ out for next week, so we will see more of the Schwartz! The Schwartz? Yes, The Schwartz.

Recycled Oi joke? You ARE the model of post quality.

I'm looking forward to a Schwartz interview. What I assume happened is that the Browns scripted plays to break OBJ loose. When OBJ was a late scratch, they kept the plays that were practiced all week... so Schwartz went from backup to feature WR1.

The bottom line is Schwartz didn't shit his pants and looked great in the role.
Based on how early in the week OBJ was ruled out for week 2, I strongly suspect that the team was planning on not having OBJ in the lineup for week 1, and Schwartz already had his own role carved into the game plan.

Either way, I was very pleasantly surprised with what he was able to do on the field. Hopefully that means his hammy is back to 100%.

Can’t wait to see the Browns in SoFi next month. Birthday present from my wife!
That's awesome, should be a great game. I can't wait to see the Browns in SoFi in February -- booked a place on airbnb out there a couple weeks ago!

Schwartz is listed on yahoo fantasy as "questionable" but I can't find anything referencing an injury. Is there anything to report?
