2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If its a first offense he will be charged with something else and probably not do significant crime. But Ozuna is 30 years old, and could end his career as domestic violence is a career ender these days.
EDIT: can’t recall if this is his first arrest or not. His wife was arrested for hitting him almost a year ago to the day. There is certainly history there.

He may actually say he was attacked first....

But why stay with that type of woman...

It really doesn't matter too much what he says (the story is out there) due to what the cops witnessed themselves. They pretty much saw him with his hand(s) around her throat before throwing her into a wall via the hand squeezing her throat. He tried changing his story "course of events" once already.. They've been married for 10 years...

The dude is going to jail. The dude is done playing ML baseball.

We shall see in due time what the story is...

A statement from the Sandy Springs Police Department said officers entered the home, where the front door was open, and heard screaming from inside. Officers said they saw Ozuna grab his wife by the neck and throw her against a wall, in addition to striking her with a cast on his injured left hand.

I misstated a little bit above, but the cops were eye witnesses to some of it and enough of it to pursue charges even if the victim decides not to cooperate.

The question is what causes the fight to begin with? I am not saying it wasnt wrong and maybe excessive, but if she went after him first, technically he would have some self defense and I would bet they will use that as a counter in court. He is done for the season without a doubt, but if they can prove self defense, he will be able to play in 22...

Dude.. Feel free to read the stories online.

I have, we don't know what caused the incident to begin with... the woman has been arrested before for attacking Ozuna... What I am saying is we only know about the end of the story not what started it. I don't make judgements on anything until I know the whole story. (Though at the current moment it is looking bad for Ozuna, especially since even if he was in self defense, he did use excessive force, but something about self defense will play out in court by his lawyers...)

... Both parties have given statements to the police.

Here is how it started... While his wife was showering Ozuna took her cellphones and refused to give them back, here is a link. But feel free to find your own... https://www.tmz.com/2021/06/01/marcell-ozuna-domestic-violence-threatened-to-kill-kitchen-king/

There is no way that the police felt they were witnessing self-defense. IMO both of these people suck. His wife certainly isn't completely absolved of any wrong doing, but well... what the cops saw..

Why do I feel like they should have not been together at all?

Rain out discussion...

"During Manfred’s tenure, which began in January 2015, the entertainment value of the sport has slowly deteriorated. Driven by analytics, the game has turned into a massive science project, with an emphasis on both pitchers and hitters maximizing power."

"Obviously, not all of this is Manfred’s fault, but he is the titular head of the sport. He arguably was too slow to take action when the current problems began to surface, too accepting of teams seeking efficiency at the expense of entertainment, too unwilling to confront the union on this subject. "

A few interesting quotes from Rosenthal's Athletic article...I do not buy the "science project" line, as all sports are emphasizing analytics and "sports science"....perhaps I am one of the few that does not hate the present game, even while acknowledging its many faults?
All that said, the next CBA certainly looms large in MLB's direction...

Sure seems like a hit piece.

"Stuff's changing, the person in charge is at fault!"

If the author can't give suggestions for what should have been done differently, it's about as worthwhile as "Angry man yells at clouds."

Yeah, I actually don’t mind the current product at all. I love watching dudes just flame throwing.

I would like to see hitting improved though. I don’t know what they could do for that. Maybe the coaching/analytics is lagging behind and will eventually catch up?

Move the mound back two feet.. or five feet.. it gives the hitter that additional split second to become aware of the pitch.. is what was proposed as a rule change to be tried in the minors.. It's not like the mound hasn't been altered in the past..

I do believe the hitters will "catch up" in the not too distant future...all the incentive in the world to do so.
