2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A very interesting look at the ever evolving "stickey" stuff chess match between Bauer and MLB.

Bauer clearly has gotten out in front of the story yet again and put MLB on the defensive.

Just makes me laugh that he can continue to control the narrative and put the spot light on the commissioner and league.
I'm ok with Bauer using sticky to exploit and expose a broken system.

What a disaster. That is SOOO BAD it isn't even funny

Get a PR rep to prepare you Cole, you make enough money - Wow !!!!

Looks like Bauer had Cole pegged all the way back to the trade from Pitts to the Astros and his new pitching coach, Bauer's old buddy Brent Strom. Maybe Francona should apologize to Bauer @CATS44 for throwing him under the bus with all his apologies to Hinch for TB's truthfulness. Sticking up for the cheaters :conf (9): versus his own player. Way to go Tito.

Yes...the interview's question: did you use spider tack.. being followed by "...I don't know to answer that.. I can discuss this with the executive committee.. blah buh blah buh blah.." GUILTY !!.. Gerrit Cole's credibility as a true professional vanished like a fart in the wind.. This interview can only be described as "bad optics".. bad, indeed..

Horrible response. It is breathtaking that this guy's "people" let this happen...not that it excuses Cole on any front.

There used to be someone on the Yankees PR staff who advocated for more media training.

He eventually learned that was a waste of his time and moved on.

Sounds about right. 1/3 of them were probably too dumb for the training to do much good, 1/3 too arrogant to agree to it in the first place, and the remaining 1/3 with brains and humility probably didn't need it.

The word I am getting today is the nuclear option.

If either hand, or glove, or forearm, hat, belt or anywhere else the umpire wants to check is deemed to be "sticky". you're outa there.

Not sure if we are talking mandatory checks as in a minimum of 2 per starter and one per every reliever or what. But the word is starting to circulate to the teams from MLB

so your saying......

Back in the day - they would check Gaylord Perry at least twice a game.
But they never found a damn thing. He admitted, sometimes he just wanted to get in the hitters head.

Supposedly the umps can check anywhere they want. And any sign of stickiness anywhere and you are gone. Plus they confiscate your uni, hat, glove to take it for analysis.

The only thing that is subjective is - "what is stickiness" - are we going to have every ump with their own interpretation, so it becomes like the strike zone was back 10 years ago. Are they really going to seriously check stars like Kershaw, Sherzer, Cole, Verlander, Sale, Darvish, Snell, Bieber or the umps just going to play pretend with those guys.

BTW.. it's looking like the nuclear option for MLB is a 10 day paid vacation for the sticky SOB who get's caught... THE HORROR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe MLB wants to justify the umps existence. Then they won't be able to replace them with "robot umps".
