2021 Around MLB: Return of the Dead Ball Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I see where the Padres are finally going to try to move forward on the pitching side

Ruben deserves the chance. And if they give him enough reign, could be the Padres will become a threat to the Giants and Dodgers out west

But Kike is not Eddie.

Eddie is a guess hitter who can hit any and everything when he is hot.

Pitching to him isn't like pitching to Vlad, sr.... but when he's hot, its close.
No doubt Eddie is tough when he is hot. He can hit anything if he is guessing right.

That is why you have to keep him guessing. Not use patterns when he is hot. Run someone out there that can throw multiple pitch types at him and give him a smorgasbord. It is doable, but you have to adjust up and down the pitching staff or he will get somebody and do damage

I’m not so certain a newbie manager is ready to take on big personalities like Tatis Jr. and Maldonado.

Sounds like a knucklerballer time and since no one exactly knows where the ball is going haha

It's about getting the most out of his pitchers and it sounds like the potential to be just that is great...

The Padres have interviewed former Mets manager Luis Rojas as they look to replace recently fired skipper Jayce Tingler, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Rojas spent the past two seasons as the Mets’ manager but had a 2022 club option declined at season’s end and is now free to explore other opportunities.

wonder if the Guardians approached him?

Why would they??

It would be someone like Thome/A long time Cleveland player that would be apart of buying a minority in Cleveland not Griffey silly...

Agreed except I imagine the Guardians are leaving no stone unturned in the search for an infusion of cash. I don’t believe Derek Jeter had any deep Miami roots or connections before buying the Marlins.

Jeter only has a 4% stake in the Marlins. I don’t think he was brought in for his money.

Four percent of $1.2 billion is $48 million so yeah, not a huge amount but still meaningful. But the real value was in the name, absolutely.

I would be curious to see how far that 48 million would go to purchase a stake in the Yankees.. Think it even gets to .5%?

Probably about right but the valuation of the Guardians will always pale by comparison to the Evil Empire.
