2021 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is my worry. While you love to have Olave back for the team, you wonder how it effects the rest of the locker-room and recruiting. I guess the one positive is that if we are coaching up and getting these guys ready for the NFL, they would have their JR year to have that breakout year and go into the draft early. I am hoping the coaches are able to help the players see the big picture.

Playing a full schedule next year will help. Those guys behind Olave/Wilson/Williams will see a lot of playing time, especially in blowouts. Then Olave and Wilson, maybe Williams, go pro and then that next group rises up the depth chart.

Chase Young is the 4th buckeye in five years to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the year.

We are a fucking pro factory.

As awesome as that is its slightly annoying they’ve won only one national title since 2012 when OSU has started recruiting at a top 3 level.

Yeah, some missed opportunities in some of those years. I think the recruiting has kicked to another gear in 2020-2022, which is insane to think about, but the truth is you gotta be somewhat lucky to win an NC too. What Alabama is doing is almost impossible to replicate. It’s bizarre and impressive.

That said, I’d expect a couple titles this decade for the Bucks.

It’s annoying that Alabama has been an anomaly the last decade but there’s nothing we can do about that. A championship every decade or so should be celebrated more and it’s quite an accomplishment in its own right. Saban just changed the game.

I’m happy we are always at the top as well which always gives us a shot with the right team. It’s very bleak these days for many other programs due to the recruiting gap. I am just glad we are on the positive side of that and, more or less, setting that bar these next few years statistically.

I wonder what Alabama looks like when Saban hangs it up. Does the standard and culture endure a coaching change or two as it has at OSU? Probably. But I bet it brings them back to the pack. Because right now even Clemson and OSU are in the distance.

That said, Nick seems like he’s just gonna coach until he dies and win 15 natties in the process.

Does Bama alum Dabo replace him?

Oklahoma set the blueprint for replacing a legendary coach and OSU followed suit.

For starters, Saban will have to be 100% on board with such a transition plan a couple years in advance. Identify his successor, groom him quickly, then give him the keys to the car. Easier said then done, of course.

This is definitely a concern. Though, he's built such a monster at Clemson, with a strong staff that will never leave, that I'm not sure he'd want to do it.... Not to mention forever being compared to Saban and living in his shadow. Whereas at Clemson he's viewed as a God (literally and figuratively :chuckle: ) Probably won't be long before he gets a statue there.

Maybe, although this is mostly something I just use to piss off the Clemson fans I’m surrounded by.

Now I can talk about how we clapped em’ though.

Yeah, it's natural to have some envy wrt Bama, but we have a long, consistent history of winning that puts us up there with any program overall and... just look at Michigan or Tennessee if you need a reason to feel grateful.

Yea what Alabama has done will never be done again most likely.

Ohio State SHOULD have two more titles, but that's the thing.

Every time Alabama seems to have the best team, they win it. They rarely, if ever, have a year where they have the best team and blow it.

Ohio State blew it in 2015 (w/o question) with the best team and potentially blew it in 2019. Though I won't argue that one as vehemently. They should have beaten Clemson. I don't know if they'd have beaten LSU though.

We also blew it in '98 but that's a different discussion.
