2021 Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mobley did most of his scoring in college by facing up. He hardly played on the block at all.
From the game tape I’ve seen, Mobley did virtually all of his scoring from the free throw line & in. Some of that was with his back to the basket and some was facing up.

You have to wonder how he fits with Allen since you’d have two bigs playing in the same area, neither of whom steps out on the perimeter very much. Maybe Mobley can expand his game to the perimeter, but that’s a projection as we haven’t really seen him do it.

Yep, two totally different players. KD was comfortable on the perimeter while Mobley really played down low in college. We don’t know if Mobley can play out on the perimeter. Mobley is alot like Chris Bosh was coming out of Georgia Tech.

He's not Durant, don't want to claim that. He did spend a lot of time on the perimeter and he can drive into traffic and make a pass on the move. That is something wings and guards do. He can run a pick and roll as well. Jarrett Mobley pick and roll?

I have no idea what people who want to keep Sexton and draft Barnes/Kuminga are thinking. The Cavs were dead last in 3 point shooting last year. Sexton takes 75% of his shots inside the paint.

The NBA is all about finding super elite talent. If the consensus is correct and this draft has 3 guys that are well above the rest, you just take the one that falls to you. The Barnes talk seems insane to me. Many say he will be an incredible talent if he just learns to shoot and score. That skill is a necessary component to be a true impact player. It is not optional.

The consensus top 3 is only consensus among fans. Everything I've seen that includes opinions from GMs, scouts etc views the top tier as closer to 5-7 players. Not as big a gap between Sengun and Cade as you would think. As it is, I would still take Barnes over anyone that isn't Mobley.

Sexton has been adaptable to changing his game. He has said he needs to take more 3s.

It doesn't make anymore sense to draft Barnes/Kuminga and put Okoro in at SG. We would have 3pt shooting only from Garland and Love/Nance.

I could see a trade down if Green falls to #3. Chad Ford said he doesn't see how Green moves the needle for the Cavs if he basically replaces Sexton. We would be replacing a 25 point scorer with a guy who has the potential to be a 25 point scorer in a couple years.

I think if they trade down they see two prospects making more of an impact than the one prospect alone. Let say we can trade down with Orlando and get 5&8, Barnes and Bouknight might make more of an impact than Green.

I don't think its a 4 quarters for a dollar trade if we can get Orlando's picks. #5 and #8 will still have alot of potential. Other trade downs might not make as much sense because how low so we want to go and what other assets will come with it.

I know zero about scouting players. But people that claim to know something about it think Green has a shot to be special. No one thinks Sexton is special. Being an impact NBA player is not only about your basic stats. It is about what your presence on the court means to the rest of your team. Only a few players really impact that to a level that can mean a possible title. To that end, Sexton is just a guy that scores a lot on a losing team. Scouts seem to think Green is more than that.

Because the shooters (cade and green) will most likely be gone by the 3rd pick. Who's the next best shooter then?

The thought process is that you'd be replacing a one-dimensional high usage player with a more dynamic player who might eventually get you the same number of points.

Barnes has positional versatility & can do it all. If his shot comes around, he can easily be the best player in this draft class

The skills and weaknesses of Green and Sexton are very similar though. Green isn't good on defense and isn't a good passer. He apparently is a hard worker like Sexton.

Green is taller and has a good wingspan but Chad Ford pointed out he hasn't been measured in 2 years so no one knows for sure his measurables.

The draft is a gamble and you really don't know how good a player is until they develop on the court. If Koby trades down, I bet he has some insight to Green from Team USA that we won't hear about.

Draft Mobley. Trade Sexton for a Herro based package.
Mobley would be great.
With that said I don't see them trading for Herro. FWIW this org is all about culture which is why they jettisoned KPJ. From everything I've heard about Herro he likely would not be thrilled with a trade to Cleveland. The Cavs have already proven they won't even draft a kid (SGA) that doesn't want to be here.
