Chandler Vaudrin, played for Coach McBride over at Lake HS in the Federal League. They run a highly disciplined offensive and defensive system.

He signed onto to Walsh University (D2) to play for Coach Young, and averaged a near triple-double there despite being basically the only guy on the roster who wasn’t a lights out shooter. Walsh really gets up and down.

He eventually tested the D1 waters and signed on at Winthrop for his final two years of eligibility (although he could have gotten one more due to COVID, I believe). After sitting a year due to the transfer rules at the time, he made an immediate impact, eventually becoming their best player and leading them to an undefeated record deep into the 2020-21 season along with a NCAA tournament appearance.

TL;DR, he’s a local kid with point-forward skills that lacks a jumper.

Not really seeing the comp you’re trying to make. Yeah, neither guy can shoot, but they’re completely different players outside of that.

Overall I give the day an A+. We got a very solid veteran pg so we won’t have to see the Yogi’s and Quinn Cooks of the world hopefully.
We then drafted an elite prospect that you can build a team around. Do I have confidence Koby can build a well structured team around him? No, but he has a chance

Small forwards and shooting must be the way forward from here

4 year guy. Led winning teams without the benefit of superb shooting. Do it all type of player. Used physical advantage in college but unsure if it will work in the pros.

Vaudrin is more skills over physical tools. Was a legit PG at his size.

Is Vaudrin's HS coach a member of RCF?

Looks like Cavs making a banana republic 5 with Love, Wade, Rubio, Windler and Vaudrin...
I’d be pretty surprised if Tom was on RCF, but crazier things have happened

It looks like he has good ball handling skills. How good they are is hard to tell from highlights. Jarrett Culver, Evan Turner, and Derrick Williams were about his size and had ball handling skills to be effective in college but once they got the NBA they weren't up to par.

I'll be interested to see how good he is in summer league. A point of his size could really help us long term.

Kevin O'Connor said in that video he shoots with the wrong hand. He does everything right handed but shoots left handed. Do you know anything about that?

From the clips i've seen, i'd wait to see if his production is more a product of skill vs physical advantage. Don't get me wrong, i love underdogs, but for his sake i hope he follows delly's trajectory rather than broderic thomas'

His older brother was a lefty and he wanted to do everything like him.

No joke. That’s the reason.

I don’t expect him to ever suit up for the Cavs. Just cool to have a local kid in summer league that I saw back when he was in high school.

He makes advanced reads. That's better than I would expect from an undrafted guy. Legit part who sends to have a lot of patience and very good timing
