2021 Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Chuma Okeke, RJ Hampton, #5 and #8 for #3, Sexton & Love? Salaries don't match obviously but it's gonna be hard to match salaries with the albatross we have around our neck.

Okeke has been injury prone but the all-around game is undeniable for anyone who has watched him play. Excellent D, beautiful stroke and another high IQ player. Hampton takes the "drive to the basket no matter what" 6th man role many want for Sexton.

Then there's a number of solid options at #5 and #8. Barnes or Suggs, maybe Kuminga or Sengun or insert name here.
Hard pass for me. The Cavs would give up their shot at the top tier of this draft plus Sexton for lesser parts. They are just stuck with Love at this point. I would go ballistic if they depreciated the value of #3 or Sexton just to dump the last 2 years of Love's contract.

Yeah, I don't see how Love would be part of any trade with ORL. I already mentioned it in another thread, but I'd rather buy him out or ride out the rest of his contract than spend any additional assets to dump his contract on another team.

I'd have to be absolutely blown away in order to drop from #3. If we stand pat and draft Mobley, extend Allen, use Collin as a trade chip that can eventually land us a nice 3-and-D wing, and slide Okoro over to SG, we could be looking at a respectable young starting five to build around for a long time, with possibly enough money to be a serious player in free agency as soon as next summer.

I would absolutely not do that deal. The Cavs would be giving up the 2 best assets in that deal. In a star player / ceiling driven league you don't trade talent for quantity.

The only good thing in the deal for the Cavs is getting rid of Love but honestly, that really just saves Gilbert money but I don't know why any of us care about that. There's a good chance Gilbert just buys him out within the next season any way. No reason to give up very prime assets to get rid of Love.

Do you guys follow that ClevTA guy on twitter? He's always saying that Mobley isn't worth it and the Cavs should trade down. ‍♂️

Edit: That was supposed to be a shrug, but I'm leaving it.

Considering the Cavs don't like Barnes: Take that deal above, add Kuminga and Wagner into it. Is that enough to pass on Mobley..............I just can't. A point center simply doesn't come around very often. If you can convince me Kuminga blows up into the next Lebron or Mobley can't score at the NBA level at a high enough level.........maybe I would change my tune.

Fan forums: the only place in the known universe where trading your best player to move down in the draft makes sense to anyone.

If Mobley is at 3, you keep the pick and just draft him unless Orl offers you something insane like 5/8/Isaac. If Mobley is off the board, I would look into 3 for 5/8 and get two of Barnes/Franz/Sengun/Moody.

Goddamn how many times do we have to tell you the Cavs do not like Kuminga?

How do we know the Cavs don't like Barnes? I would NOT trade down to 5 but Barnes is solidly at #5 on my board just behind the consensus top 4.

Something I could see as possible is the Cavs taking Mobley at 3, Barnes being taken at 5, then the Cavs trading Mobley for Barnes and 8. Whether that could actually happen obviously depends on 1) the Cavs really liking enough guys that they consider Barnes and 8 a good deal, and 2) Orlando being obsessed with Mobley. I have no idea if either of those things is true.

Huge.

To me, the corrolary for that is to seek out guys with intangibles suggesting drive/motor/improvement. Character guys with some brains. I'd prefer a guy whose biggest need is to improve his skills over a guy whose biggest need is to get his head screwed on straight.
You mean like Sexton?

No way I trade down to 5 in this draft.
Mobley is the best prospect in the draft so if he is there you take him. But after that there is a bit of a drop off til Barnes, Suggs and the rest. Might as well get 2 tier 2 guys instead of 1.
weak scoring, explosiveness.
This is why you don't like Barnes. You are not the Cavs. Thankfully.
