Makes me think its definitely all smoke.

And this makes me think ol' Gerry isn't all that plugged in, but we'll see.

Look, I don't really blame Steelers fans for melting down on this, but I actually wouldn't be surprised if 33 to Jacksonville was his floor. If someone like the Steelers actually wants him, they should know that the late 1st might be their only chance.

Urban hired Penn State's TE coordinator as his TE coordinator...

edit: Not to mention Heath Miller is one of the most common comps I hear thrown around

Phillips is worrisome considering a concussion history, he's already retired once, and he's really only have one-year of collegiate production... I don't think he's on the Browns board, if he drops or not...

Paye is a little "safer" but his 10-yard split is not conducive to where the Browns typically tend to lean..

I would be surprised if they pass on Ojulari considering his age, production, conference, character, pass rush skills, athletic profile and being rated well by analytics (for all intensive purposes)...

But then there's this, I do think Turner is a legit option at 26 if they can't trade up for one of their top guys, they can't trade down, and Ojulari/Newsome/Horn/Surtain are gone:

Some good nuggets:

- Browns not actively considering DT at 26
- Browns would trade up for a few certain players (Surtain/Horn?)
- After top WRs, a lot of buzz surrounding Terrace Marshall being a guy Browns like a lot
- LB not necessarily off the board at 26, think Browns do like Jamin Davis. Also have done a lot of work on JOK
- Jabril Cox is a LB target potentially outside 1st round
- At 59, may be just out of reach of some guys they like (trade up possibility?)
- Patriots open to dealing JC Jackson for 2nd round pick; Gilmore available but age and contract are barriers
- If Browns drop back from 26, they'd like to stay within the 30s
- Uncertain but slightly leans CB if they stay at 26 with caveat Browns value playmakers
- Thinks Browns make about 6 draft picks
- Sees Tyson Campbell as a bit too rich at 26

As I made my list of hybrid defenders, I definitely should have included Jamin Davis.

When you talk about a guy who can thrive playing a shallow zone, he might have been created in a lab for what you want: long, fast, great tackling radius.

I am not that thrilled with his experience level and anticipation in zone. I want to see his processing speed up. But I can't talk about how much I like Hamsah Nasirildeen type players without acknowledging similarities to Davis.

First thing out of Berry's mouth about Newsome: he's one of the youngest players in this draft class...

Age is clearly a pretty big data point for the Browns... Newsome is only 20 years old, similar to Wills last year when he was only 20 years old...

Fundamentally, it makes sense. Guys who make an impact at a younger age are prodigies, and when you draft a twenty year old you get more of their potential prime than when you draft a 23 year old.

For those thinking about a replacement for Malcolm Smith at OLB, Tony Fields is a bit undersized but can definitely play the coverage LB role.

Looking forward to seeing what metrics he can put up, but in a division with Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow and an AFC that has to go through Pat Mahomes for the next decade, having speed and athleticism at the LB position is crucial.

Phillips looks like he can fly around out there, this is another guy to watch.

January 27

Love to see it. Really nice young player, special teams first.
