With where we're at on defensive and where our picks are going to fall in the draft, I'm a pretty big advocate of trading our 1st or 2nd round pick for some type of high-level veteran at S or maybe another pass rusher. Especially on defense, this team is still very young and we'll be investing heavily in the draft to improve it. Bringing in a veteran guy that can not only be an impact player but also offer leadership would be extremely valuable to this defense.
While we could look at LB or CB as well, I'd rather draft younger guys to fill those needs and build depth. Who that might be I don't really know, but given where we appear to be as a team, we aren't going to want to wait a couple of years to see if all these guys pan out. We still need to build the roster through the draft, but I think now is the time to take a swing on a trade like that for a veteran guy. We missed the boat on Minka, but we've all seen first hand with the Steelers how adding the right player to a young defense can really change things.
