2021 Game #9 | #5 Ohio State @ Nebraska | November 6th, 2021 @ 12 PM EST

If Cincy is jumping OSU because Wake Forest lost to UNC, how is that any dumber than the other stuff the committee gets piled on for?

Combined with Minnesota, Ohio State's supposed best win in the committees eyes, losing today to Illinois.

Its not. The comittee sucks.

Doesnt Iowa get more money if a Big 10 team makes the CFP? How is that not a conflict of interest for Gary Barta?

Why arent the rankings by some old white dudes that are potentially impartial? Why are they by old white dudes that are definitely partial?

Washington up 7-0 on Oregon and Lsu up 7-0 on Bama. Early days

And that is negated by Cincy beating Tulsa by 8? And I also think Penn state joins the ranking which basically negates the Minnesota loss.

Wasnt OSU only up by 7 in the 4th to Tulsa? Or does my memory fade me?

It sounds like you are arguing OSU crushed Tulsa which I dont think is true. A late defensive TD skewed that score.

I'm happy to be wrong, but it doesn't really matter.

Nebraska is a tough team. If they were in the ACC they would probably win the conference. But their record says they suck, and Ohio State should be much more than 9 points better than them. That's what the people that rank these teams will be thinking. And because they lost to Oregon, they have no margin for error.

And Ohio State beat a 3-7 Nebraska team by 9?

This is all rather stupid.

The simple fact is when you only use the committees own rankings, one team has a far better resume than the other and if they wanted to rank them ahead of OSU they would have done it last week. They didn't. We all know why they didn't and it isn't based on any football reasons.

Not saying OSU crushes Tulsa. But I if you think Cincy should jump OSU, I think it’s relevant they beat Tulsa by less.

I also think it's relevant OSU has beat no one of note and has a loss.

nd Ohio State beat a 3-7 Nebraska team by 9?
Which is more than the 3,7 and 8 ranked teams beat them, so it probably doesn’t hurt them.

yes. College football has always determined their champ stupidly. Until we have auto bids to a playoff, we’re stuck arguing arbitrary criteria.

Seriously though. Where do you rank UCs win vs ND in comparison to OSUs loss to Oregon? Thats a huge date point in my opinion.

Can someone explain the deal in CFB with schools extending coaches way, way early, based on little amounts of success?

Like, why did Minnesota extend PJ Fleck? Predictably, he loses the very next week to Illinois.

Like, the eye test is important but you just can't ignore what's happened on the field.

Not only has Notre Dame not lost to anyone else, but their best win keeps getting better. THey smoked Wisconsin and Wisconsin has now come to life and is bowling teams over.

So to me, beating Notre Dame at home has to be considered an impressive victory.

This team looks like it gets absolutely ravaged by Georgia on a neutral field; like, I don’t want to witness it.

First off, Fleck is good for Minnesota. Being in the hunt for the B1G west is probably his ceiling.

But more importantly, he’s a hot name and there are already openings at USC and LSU. His agent just has to float that one of those schools has interest and Minnesota has to extend him.
