2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Morgan and JC Mejia are a clear cut above Moss for me. They have better stuff and command. Moss won't be on the 40 in the offseason with much better talents in need of a roster spot.

O. Miller needs to play LF so he's in line to replace E. Rosario next season.

And R. Palacios should be moved to CF.

Palacios in CF in AA doesn't sound bad to me, but Kwan is in the mix somewhere for now.

Any thoughts on how far down the depth chart Mercado is now? A.Rosario, Gamel, Johnson, Zimmer and maybe even Luplow all seem to be in front of him now. Might as well add Owen Miller to that list...

Miller and Freeman continue to destroy desert pitching with two hits a piece in todays game.

Mercado gets to play somewhere in AAA Columbus at least to start 2021, but if he doesn't get it going, his 40 man spot might get taken by someone else once a move is needed by the major league club (like adding a reliever or another bat ie T Freeman or O Miller)...

I assume Mercado plays a lot of LF in AAA, Zimmer in RF and Johnson in center with that being fairly shaken up. Add in Miller and Call(?) and that's not a terrible AAA outfield. The nagging feeling for me is Zimmer and now Mercado are sailing into AAAA waters. Mercado will end up buried if he can't start hitting a little.

IMO Zimmer has been sailing in AAAA seas for years and Mercado is sticking his toes in the water right now.

This next wave of talent isn't going to leave any room for older AAAA outfielders.

This is just my opinion and I certainly expect some pushback by expressing it, but it's time for this organization to start moving past questionable players like Bauers, Zimmer, and Mercado. There's just too much talent to either replace directly or use to address the positional needs via trade. Sure, they could go all Aguilar or Urshela after leaving, but it's time to trim the fat and wish them well on their future endeavors IMO.

Between 40 occupants Zimmer, Mercado, D. Johnson, H. Ramirez and Gamel...only one will keep their roster spot come offseason.

I doubt they all will keep their roster spots thru this season.

Zimmer and HRam will be out of options I believe next season, while Johnson and Mercado will still have one. Gamel will be a free agent after the season. I am guessing Zimmer would be first of the cuts since he has definitely been outplayed by the other guys.

If things go as normal, we will probably use around 45 players this year, meaning at least five additions/subtractions on the 40 man, minus any 60 day ILs.

Agreed in general but one last chance seems fair. Bauers will have his chance in the bigs, still not big on Bradley who doesn't appear to have developed an eye yet (1 BB in spring training). Zimmer well, a 28 year old "prospect"? See if he can cut down the K's in the minors if not bye-bye. Mercado seems like a low ceiling guy to begin with yet lately we've seen he has a low floor too. Not even sure what to do with him at this point. If anyone shows promise it's probably more than Mercado has shown recently. If he puts up AAAA performance in AAA he might be rosterable but time's running out.

KS it does seem fair. One has to wonder how long Bauers' leash is and if Bradley replaces him can he perform any better/worse. I like Amed's bat much better than Mercado's so I hope he becomes efficient in CF.

I'm more aggressive by nature, which isn't always or even often the best path, but there's no way I wouldn't be addressing a couple of positions differently. Alas, I'm a Cleveland baseball fan and I'm gonna role with my team regardless.
