2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know that I agree that there's anything Cesar needs to come out of.

So far this year, he's walking more, striking out less, barrelling the ball up more, and making higher-quality contact.

Until he starts producing results at the plate, I absolutely see that as him needing to come out of it. I love Statcast and spend far too much of my day on their pages :chuckle:, but results ultimately trump anything else. I do think he'll come out of it and agree with you that his profile is reassuring.

One of MLB's partner leagues trying out something fun and interesting. Not sure it would play on the major league level but certainly an entertaining idea.

Just say no. A bit like the shoot out in hockey, which is a horrible way to break ties.
I'm all for interesting ways to deal with baseball ties during the regular season.

When it's a 162-game marathon, having a game potentially go 17 innings just sucks for everyone involved. The average fan doesn't want to stay up that late. The teams don't want to burn through their entire pitching staff hoping to get a single win.

The runner on second seems to have done the trick, but if you want to go to a HR derby, go nuts.

I'd be fine with ties resulting in a single 10th inning being played, then if nobody scores, the game being called a tie after that.

As long as postseason baseball ties aren't changed, I'm fine with whatever you want to do during the regular season.

I am sure there are some varying opinions on this matter, but I would not like to see rule changes to limit shifting. Kudos to the defense (practitioners and designers)...it is incumbent on the hitters to make some adjustments...or just stay the course and hope that is good enough.
I disagree, they need to make some kind of rule change on shifts. All of the major sports sans futbol have made changes to help offense and it's clear, with the new training techniques and substances benefiting pitchers more than hitters, that something other than juicing up their balls is needed for hitters to come back around. Saying 'just change your approach' doesn't work when each teams bullpen is full of guys throwing 95+ and guys clearing 100. The only logical step after that would be to alter the pitchers, and even moving back the mound or lowering won't matter with guys like Bauer finding newer substances to improve their performance; increased velos are here to stay.

Per Tribeinsider:

Mitch Reeves (OF/1B) and Tyler Friis (MIF) have been released. Reeves seemed like he may have a had a longshot/late bloomer chance.

More info from Indians Prospective twitter:

#Indians have released minor league OF Mitch Longo

Also, in other news after the game on 4/28/21:

#Indians have optioned LHP Logan Allen to Triple-A Columbus

I think optioned isnt a strong enough word on Logan....more like duct taped him up and through him on a one way bus to Columbus.

Kinda bummed about Mitch Longo - was always one of @Tondo 's guys
Yeah, a little shocked, but the AA/AAA OF logjam is real. Maybe injury involved? Surprised they keep Marabell over him, though. Friis/Reeves was also surprising, so more fringe prospects could be next.

I hope they keep OF T. Brooks around for another chance.

I'm guessing it's the Marabell was playing 1B and I think he has a bit of the Joey Wendle in him, I just see someone who will make it as an older player but I could be wrong, his bat hasn't done enough yet...

I get Friis getting the pink slip, but figured Reeves would open up in AA as 1st base is pretty open IMO.

Problem is we haven't really gotten to see these guys play, so I am not sure who has advance and who went backwards etc.. we only know the top guys, anyone after that, we have too little on to predict anything sadly.

Also I am hoping that moving these guys is a good sign to come towards the future of the organization.

Reeves would have been an inventory guy, like the guy (forget the name) they took in the minor league rule 5 a few years back. Definitely not a prospect and old, but had 2020 happened he would have played in Akron..

It would not be surprising to see several players "change" positions this season. Palacios in the OF, Bracho in the OF or 1B. etc. Looking forward to it, the Indians need "bats". It seems reasonable when considering the wholeness of it all, that anyone at any position who is performing well above average gets a push.

Where do the "kids" from the 2019 draft fit in? 3rd round pick Joe Naranjo and 9th rounder Will Barlett? Will some guys be getting pushed like crazy?

Indians Prospective Twitter is communicating some of the minor league team rosters.

Here is AA Akron.

He is also guessing the Rubberducks roster will add a name or the from alternate training site.
