17 of that top 30 were 20 and younger. We have a large crew of players coming up together!

Did he forget Cody Morris and Hunter Gaddis? And L. Allen is way too low.
Worth reminding that this list, like a lot of others on the net, are Dynasty Fantasy driven rankings.

FG is still by far the best free source available

Hmm.. Morris is clearly an unfinished gem and another one of those under rated guys that don't get a lot of prospect love.. That high riding, "whack-a-doodle-spinning" fastball coupled with his fading change up might just make him an RP, long term. I'm not as sold on his breaking ball.. perhaps it's a consistency thing.. but, if he can up his command & control with a primary two pitch mix while throwing a "show-me" breaking ball.. he'd be ML ready pretty damn quick.. quick indeed..

Tondo - my disagreement is not in what's missing, it is in thinking that any list is the best. There are lists that are better than others (& I would put Fangraphs on the top tier with a handful of others) but not 1 best listing year in & year out.

Every list has flaws and is subject to some bias. It is my belief that the greater number of sources/ lists, the flaws are mitigated and overall bias is reduced.
That is why I try to share each listing I come across - to try to create a more complete picture for everyone.

I know, MT, and really appreciate you doing this for so many years now.

The system is loaded with talent and it'll lead to a severe roster crunch next offseason ahead of the Rule 5 draft. We lost 2 players this year, but it could be a handful next December, if we don't deal from this excess.

By my count, we have 7 absolute must adds in Rocchio, Valera, Bracho, T. Freeman, Arias, Cantillo, O. Miller

And then: C. Morris, Planez, J. Noel, Tena, Fermin, R. Burgos, Lavastida, Sandlin, R. Palacios, R. Broom, A. Scott, Kwan

Even if we don't sign any FA for 2022, we can maybe add and protect 8-10 prospects max.

It's a shame because I really like most of those prospects, but we have to start trading from that pool now. Bunch 3-4 of them together for Santander or Benintendi.

I'd try:
Hankins, Planez, C. Morris, Tena for Santander
or
Morris, Planez, S. Moss for Benintendi

How many prospects that absolutely need to be added makes this a blood bath.... Addressing this subject as you've done defines who to keep.. the question becomes.. who to lose?..

Who to acquire is pretty simple.. In your exampe.. two ML regular OF'ers..works for me.. both are limited in years remaining under control and aren't really all that expensive.. These two, Santander and Benintendi.. are good guys with decent skills.. Both are on teams that are clearly in rebuild mode.. IOW.. they should be available.. The question becomes:

You appear to be ready to lose Cody Morris and Alexfri Planez.. is that true?

If it is okay,

then.... do you really want to lose Scotty Moss & Ethan Hankins as well?.. I don't think this is okay.. and am aware we can't keep everyone.. How about Eli Morgan?.. isn't he a better candidate to be facing Indians hitters in 2023 and beyond?.. do you think the Red Sox and Orioles know that?..

So.. who's more off limits than ready to be offered without stipulation.. if the theory is everyone is available.. including guys in our top ten of whichever list you like/dislike..?

Tough choices.. and well founded opinions for them..

I really like Morris, but our depth and his SP/RP risk (and TJ past) make him expendable. I think he's properly evaluated as 40+ with 45 FV upside. He has a similar profile as Rule 5 pick T. Stephan.

Planez I'm lower than most. He's definitely interesting, but also overhyped on a very small sample and projection. His K/BB and SwStr% suggest he's very raw. He's basically the HS version of Will Benson right now, with similar risk.

S. Moss has a nice performance track record to sell. I doubt his game translates well, too many walks and stuff looked weak. Both JC Mejia and Eli Morgan looked much better last ST. We have much better BOR candidates and he's not much of a reliever fit either. Wouldn't lose much sleep over what looks like an Aaron Laffey type for me.

Love Tena, Fermin, Palacios, Kwan etc, but we won't be able to keep them all, especially the MIF, with as many coming up right behind them.

Knowing our gunshy FO, they don't like the risk of being buyers and want to collect as many information as possible, so maybe we see a mass exodus at the trade deadline, but it could be too little too late again then.

Does JC Mejia get reconverted back into a pen role? Time is a-ticking and should be able to swingman a pen at least.

I agree that the front office won’t trade multiple prospects yet, I think they’ll wait till getting a better read on the recovery from the pandemic, then trade a few months before the next Rule 5 draft. Hoping they’ll do something this winter but don’t expect it.

I really want to see a few guys in action before I start trading more than 1 or 2. I am interested in Benintendi and similar types, but after 2020 and lacking and minor league stats to pontificate, I am really wanting to see how much a team/system we have right now.

Yes Mejia and Hentges should be moved to the pen during the year as it is their last option. Same as Allen. Yet, they will probably start as starters as Allen could reclaim some trade value (plus we need some depth with a bunch of our starters not truly stretched out). Plus as starters, they get more consistent work to work on their consistency.

Pete, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see McKenzie start the season in Columbus and Allen get the 5th spot. I think that needs to happen for a couple of reasons:
1. McKenzie probably is not ready for a full season as his IP will need to be ramped up.
2. It's time for Allen to take the next step. He possesses good stuff, but lacked the control. Hopefully he realizes his potential.

Hentges is bound for the BP IMO, but Mejia is one of my dark horses as a SP. He's had a few nagging, but minor injuries but his stuff is very good. He's one of those types that Cleveland turns into a monster SP.

Another day, another prospect list located

Top 10 listed out with writeups. A chart in the early part of the article also notes for quick reference the respective ages of the each member of the top 10. Calling them 'young' might be a bit of an understatement...
