2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Keith Law's Top 100 posted today. Notable Cleveland prospects making the list:

12. Triston McKenzie
42. Bo Naylor
76. George Valera
78. Tyler Freeman
86. Nolan Jones
99. Brayan Rocchio
FWIW, this is as many CLE Top 100 guys I can recall on Law's list.
He likes all these guys (of course), but he is particularly bullish on Naylor, thinking he'll stay a catcher and perhaps excels defensively....evolving to a true upper echelon prospect.
He is quite positive as to McKenzie, but of course expressing worry on durability...wondering if he might go the Snell route and be super effective for 5-6 innings per start.
He believes Jones' development may have suffered the most because the lack of the 2020 MiL season, but still thinks he has a shot to figure out lefties with more reps/experience...also thinks he could stick defensively as a third baseman, but is obviously blocked by Ramirez in the near term

Notice that all these guys are purely developed from within. No trade prospects like Arias.

Again, another day, another prospect list located

Top 50 listed out with writeups. Ranks both pitchers & position players. Has a fantasy slant.

Edit: This group did include two of the recent Int'l signings on the listing (at #49 & #50).

Arias is a wild card for me. He's already fantastic defensively and has good power for a MIF. If his 21 season is anything like his 19 season then he's our best prospect IMO. If's and buts.......if's and buts.

Thanks for pointing out. I failed to double check & update from where I copied.

I have edited the post above to add Rocchio onto the Keith Law listing...

EDIT: I have also updated the chart to reflect Keith Law's just missed list (posted 2-1-21)

Law put out his "Just Missed" list in regard to his Top 100 -- right off the bat he lists Gabriel Arias, praising his defensive tools and speed, but noting while he is still young enough to get it done, he has to find a swing that works for him.
Also on the "Just Missed" list is much discussed Jordan Groshans (TOR) -- thinking that the lost pandemic season was a big blow to his progress, but the opportunity for him to become a star player still flickers.

@Steve_424
Did you get you copy of the Handbook or see the full list on the BA website??
I heard something about BA going more than 30 deep in their rankings this year...
Any other listings for CLE or deeper lists for other clubs??
Where did CLE rank in term of system rank??

Can't wait to see my sweet, unappreciated prince again. He lived in the cages in AZ for most of the late fall/early winter post-surgery. Was by far the position player I was most excited to see in 2020, created a ton of buzz in camp.

Few things:

Gabby Rodriguez will more than likely be moved to 3B full time. Position is thin with Jones potentially moving off 3B or graduating to the MLB. They've had him working at 3B a lot this winter in preparation for that move.

The entire baseball world is going to have reassess their rankings at the mid-point of the season (some do already, most don't). Some of these guys are coming back in ridiculous shape, have totally remade their bodies (Espino for the Tribe will be a perfect example, he is a brick shithouse now), and some are so far out of game shape.

This is going to be a strange year for scouting prospects. Have a feeling some top 20 guys fall off the cliff, and some no name dudes from systems play their way up a huge distance.

Planez is Rule 5 eligible at the end of 2021. Are you confident that he'll be protected even though he is projected to be in Lynchburg to at least start the season?

There was a note someplace (I forget where) that Gabby Rod has worked his butt off and is incredibly ripped now.. With his bat to ball skills, shortstop arm and instincts.. the transition to 3B should be seamless.. He could be as much of a surprise/special prospect as Alexfri..

We'll see...
