Have to believe he is done playing at SS or 3B moving forward..
2B or other spots with less emphasis on throwing strength starting 2022 spring training....

Doesn't always mean he won't recover properly, but having a fringe rated arm to begin with, he is looking more and more likely to be at 2B

  • Even with Gimenez graduating the Indians still have four shortstops in their top nine and seven of their top 15. I guess they finally have enough since they didn't draft any this year.
  • Only two pitchers in the top 10. One is in high A and the other was just drafted. And our 4th highest pitching prospect just had TJ. No wonder they just drafted 20 pitchers and traded for another.
  • If Nick Sandlin is our 23rd best prospect I'm feeling pretty good about the future.
  • If Nolan Jones is an outfielder then two of our top four are outfielders. 'Bout time.
  • Oscar Gonzalez is in his seventh year with the organization but is still only 23. He's been inching his way up the system but can he get over the last hump?

Definitely well earned for Lavastida. I wonder if this means Naylor now gets promoted to Columbus. Keep in mind, if the team deals either Berto or Hedges today, Wilson Ramos is currently in Columbus to replace one of them for the remainder of the season.

Can't remember who but someone suggested that Lavastida start picking up other positions due to his agility to keep his bat in the lineup long term, if he ultimately backs up Naylor. FG is projecting him as a must add come Nov.

Good for Bryan. I don't think Naylor will be promoted though, but I don't know obviously. I think Lavastida has "caught" Naylor in the pecking order of who is next in line to play catcher at the ML level. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Lavastida start the year in AAA in 2022 with Naylor repeating at AA.

Ya they promoted Mike Rivera (C) to Columbus so I assume Lavastida and Naylor will split time at C and DH.

That was me! He played SS and 3B in college, so I was thinking we should see him play some 1B/3B/LF/RF type of thing like the Blue Jays did with Gomes...

According to Indians Prospective, Cody Morris promoted to AAA and Will Brennan promoted to AA.

A couple thoughts.

I'm not sure that Lavastida has caught Naylor, but if he makes the 40 man, he's likely to get first shot at a Guardians uniform.

*******

Good to see Morris moved to Columbus. As yet another kid who has to be added...or likely lost...he gets the chance to compete on a level playing field with a lot of others over the next several turns thru the rotation.

I usually know what positions guys played. He converted over the catcher in the Indians farm system after barely playing it at Wisconsin.

Who would we say are our top 5-10 guys in the ACL and Dominican leagues currently? I’ve kinda lost track of who are our most highly thought of prospects at that level.
