2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Planez is Rule 5 eligible at the end of 2021. Are you confident that he'll be protected even though he is projected to be in Lynchburg to at least start the season?

Usually, a OF or IF is not selected in Rule 5 unless they made it to AA (at least full season A+) or are top-10 prospect type. With a shortened ML season, some of this roster crunch maybe pushed to 2022.

Planez is also quite raw still. He could blossom, but right now he is Santander-lite. Ask me again in August.

Did you get you copy of the Handbook or see the full list on the BA website??
I heard something about BA going more than 30 deep in their rankings this year...
Any other listings for CLE or deeper lists for other clubs??
Where did CLE rank in term of system rank??

I have an online subscription with them. I'm not sure if I can/can't share more (Ex: Individual scouting reports) but will if forum rules allow it.

Another thing to watch is how the once highly touted guys who got hurt in 2018 come back.

Torres and Palacios regaining form are 2 huge shots in the arm considering their talent levels.

Torres has as good of stuff as anyone in their system and Palacios can just straight up hit and looked on the fast track to the upper levels. Indians don’t move you 3 levels in one year unless you’re special.

But still, a full 2+ years not playing is a full 2+ years not playing.

Lenny Torres has such an athletic delivery.. he's not one of these tall and fall guys.. he's a drop and drive.. getting a lot of his "stuff" from his lower half.. He'll probably be a bit rusty to start.. but, watch out once he's got the rust shaken off..

Palacios is a good kid, too..

Nice posting..

Palacios and Lavastida are my 2 guys who should shoot up the rankings in 2021.

Maybe this sounds like an obvious invite to some, but I am taking this as a sign that they are embracing the possibility of Freeman doing a good bit of moving this year....a big league September appearance seeming possible. Good.

Short interview by TribeVibe with Keith Law regarding the Tribe system and the players that made his Top 100 list.

“I think there’s a lot of position player depth, which has really changed from where they’ve been the last couple of years,” Law said in a phone conversation last week. “They have a really nice group of pretty young position player prospects, both from the draft, and especially from the international side, now supplemented with the last couple of trades, too, that I think bode well for the team’s long-term competitive status.”

Here is a user submitted top prospect list. That user may or may not be me... Without 2020 seasons to ruminate on, I'm left to copying and picking guys I like..... Spaces indicate tiers to some degree.

1. Tyler Freeman - A top 5 guy who is never #1. I think he has the highest ceiling of any prospect close to the show. A lot of room to grow and so far reports seem positive if not glowing..
2. Triston McKenzie - Durability and injury concerns clipped him a little bit but he is back on the rise. A continuation/improvement on his 2020 season graduates him from prospect status into an intriguing/quality ML pitcher.
3. Nolan Jones - We will see him play some ML games this year unless something bad happens. Where he lines up in the field and some platoon/K concerns may catch up with him a bit. But he swings a GOOD bat and is our #1 prospects on quite a few other lists.

4. Bo Naylor - Really excited to see how much he has improved behind the dish and at the plate. This is a big year for Naylor and may get a slight push due to upper level depth if he is playing well.
5. Andres Gimenez - Does this really count? Sure he qualifies but as soon as his service time is manipulated, he is likely to move up to the Majors in my opinion. I do not know much about Gimenez yet, but anticipate him graduating off this list right behind McKenzie. Might even start in the Majors.
6. George Valera - 2 lost seasons now for one of our top prospects . Last season in the minors before he will have to be rostered to be protected... Another prospect who may get pushed and could be a trade candidate.
7. Daniel Espino

8. Ethan Hankins
9. Brayan Rocchio - this might be low. One of those really hurt by the lost season.
10. Gabriel Arias - I do not know enough about him to make a fair assessment.. Good/Great D and some pop... And K's....

11. Aaron Bracho - the bat must destroy or he tumbles. Like Valera, large chunks of missed time clouds his outlook.
12. ?
13. Emmanuel Clase - lucky #13 may end up being one of the best back end guys in baseball. Set up or closer, thumbs up for now.
14.
15.
16.
17. Daniel Johnson ?

Other top 25ish guys I like
Tanner Burns
Owen Miller
Isaiah Green
Bobby Bradley

Guys I like who are probably not in the top 25
Richie Palacios
Bryan Lavastida
Robert Broom
Kyle Nelson
JC Meija

Carson Tucker is def top 25 probably top 15. Torres is in there too, but I don't know where to rank the top 10-30 type guys, especially the pitchers. Eli Morgan is another potential and the relievers you mentioned Sandlin and Mickolajhak are in there too.
