2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe those were arguments on your old board, but literally, none of those were happening here, and I don't believe anybody on this site has said they think the FO is making decisions with a coin flip. I don't think I'm going out on a limb here to say that a large majority of posters here hold the FO in high regard. Don't let the ghosts of message boards past haunt you any longer :chuckle:
It's just weird when someone comes here and starts punching against ghosts that don't exist.

I actually agree with him on Gimenez needing to play every day, but telling people they're wrong because of something others said years ago about a different topic gets us nowhere.

We all say plenty of dumb things on our own! No need to fight ghosts, fight us!

I too want Gimenez playing every day.

Since we kept Gimenez on the 26 man roster, he needs to play pretty much everyday to get the necessary reps and whatnot. You don't know what ya got as a hitter until 500ish if not more regular ABs honestly more often than not. He isn't getting the regular ABs because our division has an absurd about of lefties lol

Miller isn't going to be a SS outside of temporary/we have no choice, but on paper we have no reason to have him there outside of covering for Injury stints.

@CATS44 actually even if Miller was the best hitter we had in the minors, he may not get ABs in the pros until after his service time is towards the Indians favor. They have to do crap like that because they cannot afford to pay guys because of how bad free agent has gotten in MLB

I cannot think of a single instance of any poster clamoring for Gimenez to be the LH of a SS platoon or replacing him as the EVERYDAY shortstop.

He is struggling somewhat, but those are growing pains not alarm bells.

Sure you can sit him against the occasional tough lefty or just give him a break once in awhile. He is a "kid" and we certainly don't want to destroy his confidence or overwhelm him.

We have so many lefties in the division though and because of that he's not getting everyday ABs. That's really the most important thing at the end of the day...

Of course it is. Really the "problem" is Tito and his tendencies regarding lineup construction. Bauers batting 2nd? WTF is that lol

I think that was a reward for a good AB? It's early in the season so I'm not super worried about the lineups. It doesn't help we are all ready to move on from Bauers either lol

Back to minors talk...

Something I got to see in person yesterday, Lynchburg played Jhonkensy Noel at 3B and he looked good there. That will be interesting to follow over the season, as I know they want Bartlett to play as much as possible too. That frees up Rodriguez, Martinez, Cairo, and Valdez to spread time between SS, 2B, and DH when they want to get Bartlett and Noel defensive reps in game action.

Special, special group in Lynchburg. That is the 1st wave of the very hyped teenaged talent that a lot of people have been talking about for a while.

I think there's a tiny chance Bauers pans out still.

Please don't crucify me.

I have more faith in his bat finding the ball than Bobby Bradley's.

That first name is awesome. Reminds me of Sicnarf... which was so much cooler before I realized it was just Francis backwards

Bauers' talent has never been the question.

He is very, very talented. I'd argue he is one of the better pure hitters on their roster.

Jake Bauers' problem is Jake Bauers.

Really?

You are around this forum every day, and a highly respected poster.

You can not have possibly missed the literally scores of post denigrating Tito and the FO for, among other things, retaining Bauers over Bradley, playing Naylor every day, instead of bringing up Johnson, not trading Lindor a year ago, not trading Jose yet, not going into full rebuild, retaining Hedges, yada yada yada.

Its not ghosts of message boards past, its ghosts of this message board now.

Fans simply do not understand...or refuse to acknowledge...that every roster decision is and has been made with a lot of thought and with a lot of input by professional baseball people with long track records of success.

And they do it with their hands tied behind their backs, playing high stakes poker with nickles and dimes.

On the surface there is absolutely no way this organization should put anything above an annual second division club on the field....circa 1960s, 1970s, 1980s. Given the vastly deeper pockets of the other owners in this division, we shouldn't even be competitive in the AL Central.

But somehow, some way, this FO does...every year. And they do it by making the right decisions nearly every time...decisions that are constantly criticized daily on here.

That is not respect. Its not even recognition.

Then, later, those same posters insist that they were always on board with the sames decisions they trashed a year, a month, even a week ago.
