Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really?

You are around this forum every day, and a highly respected poster.

You can not have possibly missed the literally scores of post denigrating Tito and the FO for, among other things, retaining Bauers over Bradley, playing Naylor every day, instead of bringing up Johnson, not trading Lindor a year ago, not trading Jose yet, not going into full rebuild, retaining Hedges, yada yada yada.

Its not ghosts of message boards past, its ghosts of this message board now.

Fans simply do not understand...or refuse to acknowledge...that every roster decision is and has been made with a lot of thought and with a lot of input by professional baseball people with long track records of success.

And they do it with their hands tied behind their backs, playing high stakes poker with nickles and dimes.

On the surface there is absolutely no way this organization should put anything above an annual second division club on the field....circa 1960s, 1970s, 1980s. Given the vastly deeper pockets of the other owners in this division, we shouldn't even be competitive in the AL Central.

But somehow, some way, this FO does...every year. And they do it by making the right decisions nearly every time...decisions that are constantly criticized daily on here.

That is not respect. Its not even recognition.

Then, later, those same posters insist that they were always on board with the sames decisions they trashed a year, a month, even a week ago.

I think there is a misunderstanding between the two of you. Derek in my opinion is saying the main posters hold the FO in high regard. He isn't wrong there at all since most do. The FO has good reasons for the actions they take so there isn't any just a coin flip

Now that being stated, Cats most people complain just to complain I feel like at times even if they do hold the FO in high regard they are still going to question moves they don't agree with. So I am not going to disagree with the fact some of the fans (and posters on here) go a little too far with their complaining.

I actually agree with him on Gimenez needing to play every day, but telling people they're wrong because of something others said years ago about a different topic gets us nowhere.

We all say plenty of dumb things on our own! No need to fight ghosts, fight us!
I think you would be hard pressed to find someone that doesn't think Gimenez should play everyday. The discussion is framed around where if he continues to struggle on both sides of the ball, and at what point do you do what is best for Andres.

I think everyone here to a man believes this team is pretty damn good. Some of us think they could easily be even better. Getting some offensive production from 1B, C, SS, and CF would make a world of difference. Look at the impact HRam has had since being called upon. Naylor at 1B dramatically improves the position offensively. We have all pretty much accepted the fact that any offense from Perez and Hedges is icing on the cake. Now, if Andres can turn things around then we'll be on the up and up. We're pulling for him because we're fans, but the reality is that he's 22 and struggling so bad offensively that it has leaked over to his typically very good defense. As I stated before, no immediate decisions need to be made, but you cannot ignore what is happening either. That isn't good for the team or Andres himself.

I know it’s early and 40 to 60 AB is not enough to judge any player performance, but to see Yu Chang out there against lefty is killing me, watching him the last 2 years plus , not sure what the FO is seeing in him, I’m not calling for Owen at this time, I’m not a Bauer fan, but give him a extended look and see if he can pull it together, or what most poster say, put Naylor at first against Lefty......

As for Gimenez I think he just need to settle down, I think he putting to much pressure on himself, taking over for a Icon I’m sure he wants to show he belongs ......I also think he looking over his shoulder at the other SS on the team, now that the team is winning without his contribution maybe he will relax a little bit.......I also disagree about playing someone everyday just to play him because he young, show me something, it Don’t have to be a lot but give me something, this ain’t the Cavaliers........lol

He needs a fairly regular ABs scheduled and because he has been sitting against lefties which there is a lot of in the Division, he hasn't been able to get that schedule of ABs. That's really the issue that has been pointed out.

It could be the issue, but then again it might not be. Thing is you're only referring to half of his problem and ignoring his poor defense at SS so far. We all know he is better than how he has played to this point. He'll either work his way through it or need a reprieve in Columbus. How I view him won't change quickly so I don't see him being sent down(if necessary) in a negative light. It's just the process for most young players.

Count me in as the odd man out. I don't think Giminez should play everyday. What is disappointing to me is his lack of fundamentals on fielding routine plays. Frankie was an expert on how to field a ground ball on routine plays. Catch, quick crow hop and fire. With Giminez too many times I see him catch and fling without the crow hop, usually off his back foot. He did this very thing during Bieber's game costing a run and Manning ripped him for it and rightfully so.

Lindor has a career fielding percentage of 980.

Tim Anderson, as good of an offensive player as he is, has a career fielding percentage of 960, which is really bad. Anderson does the exact same thing on routines grounders...catch and fling from his back foot...leading to unnecessary throwing errors.

It really doesn't matter to me what the so called experts say on prospects. I've seen with my own eyes that Giminez is not fundamentally sound. Being 22 years old is not an excuse either.

I wasn't using his age as an excuse, only as a measure to suggest that he has development remaining. I don't blame you for thinking that Gimenez should not play everyday, but I still have confidence in his ability. Therefore I'd like to see him with steady playing time. I'm not in favor of making decisions based on small samples. Especially on very young players at the MLB level. Obviously his poor play has caught my eye, and if it doesn't improve within a relatively decent amount of time then other options may need to be explored. This BS claim that Gimenez has to be our SS.........period(not by you) is ignorant and foolhardy.

Something is up with Gimenez since he is not close to his normal numbers. You guys are giving up on him way too early... I'm surprised no one is calling for JRams head since he is making more errors...

As @BimboColesHair has stated previously, there is more to grading defense than counting errors. Despite his errors, Gimenez had graded out very well defensively this year, just a notch below the elite guys at his position. Jose grades out in the middle of the pack despite his errors.

On one hand, I love that you actually break down and talk about specifics like this instead of just using Gimenez's number of errors without context.

On the other, I'm a bit surprised that a Cleveland fan, of all fans, would have problems with a plus-defensive shortstop who fields the position in an unorthodox manner. Everything Omar did was wrong, poor fundamentals, and against the book... until arguably the greatest defensive shortstop of all time rewrote the book.

Sounds like Gimenez should be watching more Tom Emanski defensive skills videos based on that in-depth analysis of fielding percentage.

At age 22...
Love the Tom Emanski reference.
