2021 MLB Draft / College Baseball Thread

Baseball America's latest mock draft. Baez seems to fit the Indians profile. Also, Brookline, Massachusetts is the hometown of Conan O'Brien, so that has to account for something.

one of 8 OF'ers on my list..

this 6'3" 190 man-child (he's pretty young for this class) dynamo plays/played for Southfield Hills HS.. is a higher raw power candidate than Red Thunder.. In short.. this kid can swat !.. He's got an arm that will make the pitching coaches drool, as well.. giving him the quintissential RF'er profile. At # 23... he'd be a good choice.. one of several choices..

Miami of Ohio has an interesting guy throwing some serious gas.

Sam Bachman:

So where do I actually watch college baseball at? Like is it on the Big Ten network? I preferably would be a fan of OSU and try to watch other teams.

Official notification has been sent out all ML clubs.. 20 rounds for the June First Entry Draft..

Yeah !!...

Question for the board experts here. By decreasing the MLB draft to 20 rounds, does this strengthen college baseball?

How do you mean “strengthen“ in this context?

A larger amount of high school kids will now attend college as opposed to going straight to the minors.

And one of several new Mocks to consider.. this is a particularly good one.. comments section have a few enlightening comments as well..

Like him a lot, cold weather arm and all, but man I've heard about some concerning medicals and it's easy to see why.

Yeah, there’s a lot coming at you.

Straight arm pulldown on each release has to be INSANE stressful on that elbow.

I will yield to the experts here, but I am guessing it could be marginally stronger in this regard, but as not every HS draftee goes pro anyway, I am not sure it will have profound affect. If the draft is shrunk, I am assuming there will room for non-drafted free agents, too.

The question is how many HS players are drafted after round 20? Not many. Teams will still look for best value for best talent. Players hurt will be round 20-40 college juniors and juco who were deemed filler w some potential. Other players hurt maybe Dom league guys who use to go to stateside. As we still have 2 teams there, they may stay longer leaving most of low A and rookie ball to US HS and college players. It will be interesting but top HS players will still be drafted. Middle of road HS guys may flood JUCO ranks. Yet, will it be a huge upgrade in college talent if best is still siphoned off? With draft in July, see teams possibly doing an informal fall training (maybe informal games like alt site) to kind of replace first season ball anyway. Way to weed out guys early and somewhat replace an AZ team. So, really out low A, MV team.
