2021 MLB Playoffs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dodgers looked dead in the water most of the game. Great comeback in the 8th inning. This has been a great series.

Kenny Rosenthal: ....the Braves, after losing Ronald Acuna..went out at the trading deadline and acquired four OF'ers (including Joc Pederson, Eddie Rosario, Jorge Soler, etc).. they are a combined .341/.433/.593 in over 100 AB's during the playoffs..

Pretty good choices..

I saw the Astros had a nun throw out the first pitch last night. They’re still MLB’s biggest cheaters nonetheless.

I accidentally watched 15 seconds of a pregame show that started with "how does Astros player ______ have great numbers in the playoffs"

... Are you seriously asking that question? They cheated for several years... Why do you think they have such great historical numbers in the playoffs

Maybe they were trying to get someone to help them repent? Lol

It made no sense for him to be in the AL.....but where does he play when not pitching? 1B?

Usually DH but he has played OF. He is a good athlete so that isn't something that would be surprising...

There is a fair amount of good fortune involved in Atlanta's deadline moves.

Eddie is Eddie...a good, not great ball player. Over the course of any season, he will be bad over a short span and spectacular over a short span....but average out to being good.

In his case, we got the bad and Atlanta got the good.

When Spring Training rolls around, we will see some bad and some spectacular over six weeks. Neither will mean nearly as much as track records and the trends within those track records.

While I agree with your comments about Eddie, that doesn’t eliminate the sting of Cleveland only getting his bad performance.

...and so at the end of the season when all the games have been played, we made a good signing - first half feels random as does the second half - but the season itself is about right

Rationalize and reconcile it as needed personally.

But the Braves certainly won the deadline trades, as they traded Pablo Sandoval (who was immediately DFA'd) for the NLCS Most Valuable Player.

Rosario also hit 270/330/573/903 in 33 regular season games for Atlanta.. It was certainly a pure salary dump trade, but it sure stings a little. We got more in return for Jake Bauers IMO.. Oh well, it is what it is and GO BRAVES!

God damnit, going forward can we throw a shits and giggles clause into these deadline deals that say in the off chance if you win the World Series with him in your lineup we also get a PTBNL? :conf (8)::chuckle:

I'm not sure that dumping Eddie at the deadline stings.

Eddie was hurt and didn't even play for Atlanta until Aug 28th.

At the time he got hurt, we were about 8 games back. In the next ten games we didn't make a move in the standings. There was no reason to keep him, when he wasn't close to returning.

What stung was the loss of almost the entire rotation. No matter how Eddie would have played for us, it wouldn't have made enough difference to overcome the rotation.

Had we stayed in contention, he might not have been traded, but we didn't. And being hurt with no timetable to return, he had almost zero value in trade.

This isn't like, 'Boy, did we make a bad trade that really hurt.'

It didn't make a darned bit of difference, except that we saved about $4.5 mil....the difference between what was left of his and Sandoval's contracts.

If you want to feel better about trading Eddie, consider that what we saved can be used to pretty much pay for Bieber's or Franmil's arby this winter.
