2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He plays with his hair on every possession. HE is like a more well kempt Cedi with a slightly more awkward, nerdy posture/gait.

Jesus Christ.
He plays incredibly upright, do his legs even bend?

So I know nothing of Scottie Pippen Jr.

Never watched him play.

But it is a little interesting to me that a 6'1 guard who scored 21 points a game in the SEC, shot 36% from 3, and 85% from the line, isn't even ranked in the top 100 prospects, considering he's only a sophomore?

Mystery to me. Just ran the numbers on him, and his statistical projection is lottery-pick level. I also know next to nothing about him...strangely he's listed at 6'1" some places, 6'3" other places, but never 6'2" :chuckle: . If he's a legit 6'3" (in shoes) putting up these numbers, he should seriously be a first round pick at the absolute minimum.

Well they give accurate numbers at the NBA Combine so that’s when scouts and GMs will know the truth about his height

Pippen Jr played HS ball in SoCal his last 2 years..he transferred in from a HS in Chicago I believe. My son's team played against them too but Pippen was probably the 5th best kid on the team at that point behind Bagley, Kenyon Martin Jr, Cassius Stanley, and Remy Martin. Wade's kid would transfer in a year later and then Bronny enrolled a year after that..
Actually KMart Jr and Remy Martin were the 2 leaders of that team. Martin's kid was poster dunking all over my kid's team. Pippen Jr was not considered a prize 5 star type prospect at all...maybe part of it was his HS team was so stacked that he never got a real chance to shine?

Good info. Would be funny of like his dad he was massively overlooked by scouts

Here are all freshmen/sophomores who were All-Conference 1st team for a major conference (no particular order):

ACC: Matthew Hurt and Justin Champagnie

Big 12: Cade Cunningham

Big East: James Bouknight, Julian Champagnie, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl

Big 10: EJ Liddell, Kofi Cockburn

Pac 12: Evan Mobley, Tyger Campbell

SEC: Moses Moody, Cameron Thomas, Tre Mann, Scotty Pippen Jr.

You'd think that this list, supposedly the best young players in the best conferences, would naturally be a who's-who of lottery picks. But instead you have a complete mix, where you have top-5 guys like Cunningham and Mobley, you also have players like Liddell, Cockburn, Pippen Jr. and Campbell who have little or no draft buzz. There are cases like Campbell where you could definitely argue that he shouldn't have been on the All-conference first team. But for the others, it's like some groupthink decision has been made that their NCAA-level production won't translate to the pros. This is baffling to me...I really don't think it's very easy to predict whose production is most likely to translate.
