2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Have you seen him play a single minute of basketball?

Yes, I'd be stunned if Mobley couldn't be an elite tier mobile big man defender.
Watched his highlights. His mobility doesn't stand out to me. Maybe he's coasting in order to load manage? I did read he's a freakish athlete. I'm starting to like this scenerio alot.

There's something to be said about having players on their rookie contracts. Getting both Kispert & Murphy on cheap four year deals would have alot of value on this team.

Not a fan of a potential Mobley & Allen pairing. Too slow, perimeter defense would be an issue.

Not sure I agree, Mobley has the quickness to guard the perimeter. He is 7'0, but he has durant like agility and more athletic. He cant shoot like Durant so the comp ends there, but dont be fooled by height.

If anything, my concern with Mobley's defense is that he may not have the right stuff physically or mentally to win battles in the paint. If he needs a defensive anchor behind him at the 5, then he's not actually giving you the versatility that you expect from a truly elite defensive big.

Hold on a second......

When did Jaden Springer fall from lottery prospect to fringe first round pick? I just saw he's 29th in Kevin O'Connor's latest mock draft.

Talk about value there. I have Springer about 9th or 10th on my board. He's raw, he's inconsistent, he'll be a project pick, etc.... But there is some serious upside there as a big, two-way PG.

Am I missing something? Too slow? Too much mid-range??

I think the depth of interesting PGs is hurting him. Suggs obviously, then Giddey, Cooper and McBride, and the Baylor guys. Springer arguably brings less immediate impact/"wow" factor than those guys, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's a top-10 player in this draft at the end of the day.

You think they can co-exist on the court defensively? Is Mobley that mobile? He is 7 feet tall after all.
Yeah man, everything I've read indicates that Mobley is freakishly light on his feet and mobile for a dude as tall as he is. If he really is one of those unicorns, one of those guys that is either a little guy that can do big guy things incredibly well, or a big guy that can do little guy things incredibly well, then we better fucking take advantage of it. Pairing a big guy that has little guy quickness and lateral movement with a legit center would qualify as a plan to take advantage of this potential unicorn in my book.

Cade really struggled to score inside the arc and did not do well with contact at all. That's one of the reasons he had such a poor 2P% (.461) and ended up abandoning his inside the arc game down the stretch.
So then my honest question is why is he considered the top prospect in this class….there has to be A LOT MORE positives surrounding his game for him not to be sliding from the top spot.

He has good size and can shoot

Cade has a lot of cult of personality about him as a brand.

Mobley's high-hipped and thin frame is the only thing that truly worries me about him.
This would worry me more if the intention was to play him 36 mpg at the 5. Given the perimeter oriented game of the power forwards these days it should be ok. He certainly needs to add size and strength but assuming he stays relatively skinny throughout his career I think his length goes a long way to overcome some of the 4's that might try to bully him inside.

Is a high hipped wing like small hands for a QB?
High hipped 5 is worse than high hipped 4, but neither are great, particularly for a slight one fighting for position and easily moved. The more perimeter oriented the player’s game, the less concern.

Light weight plus high- hipped means you better be able to shoot. Lower center of gravity better for balance and position.

So a negative, but a small handed QB is worse as it’s a killer and deal breaker. A small handed QB is kind of like having really short arms for a left OT. Might as well move him to guard.
