2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel like an asshole because I want us to play competitive games but lose so we can get a top 5 pick next season.

Thats been my position the last few years...with the new lottery format, as long as they're bottom 5 in the conference (avoiding the play-in), its all a crap shoot from there.

One of my favorite players in the draft. Another one the Cavs should be looking at

He was a top 15-20 hs recruit last year but his offensive game was very very raw to the point where he could not even consider leaving after one year of college. Good to see the skill level is starting to catch up to the traits.

Uh-oh, added Josiah-Jordan James to my draft rater, and he's off the charts. These Tennessee guys...sheesh.

Done with the top 5 concept. Pick well enough and you’ll get studs in the teens.

That’s worth rooting for wins.

You’re still of course better off finding your elite talent 1-9, but there’s usually 1-2 in the 10-19 range that are impact players. But are you in position to grab them and develop them? Odds are low (too early to properly judge 2018-2020)

2009 - Jrue Holiday
2010 - Paul George
2011 - Klay, Kawhi
2013 - Giannis, CJ McCollum
2015 - Devin Booker
2016 - Sabonis
2017 - Donovan Mitchell, Bam

This also doesn’t include the few superstars/impact players
who were available to draft past 20-45 in those drafts like Jokic, Draymond, Siakam, Brogdon, Gobert, Middleton, Jimmy Butler.

Ultimately though, regardless of positive strides made by individual players, the players as a unit, and the coaching staff, for a variety of reasons this team still is most likely to finish with one of the 8 worst records in the league. From the early looks of this draft class, this is one of those years where you’d feel pretty decent even in the 6-11 range.

Early returns are this is a pretty uncommon year.......where I think any player drafted in the lottery could be one of the 2-3 best players is this class.

There is an argument to be had, for example, that Okoro might not even have been a lottery pick if he were in this draft. If he were, you'd probably see him in the 12-14 range.

I'm not super concerned at this point, in terms of draft slot. Still early and there's too many good available options from what I see.

Just root for improvement from the key young players on our team and then see how the lottery shakes out.

It still seems like a longshot to me that we make the playoffs but who knows.

Cade is the ultimate "leaves you wanting more" prospect.

Big 25/9 game for Sharpe today in an important 1-point win for UNC. Will be interesting to see if they lean on him more offensively going forward. Should be a double-double machine if he regularly gets 30 mpg.

Franz Wagner hitting his stride after a fairly tepid start to the season. Beginning to realize his potential as a highly efficient #1 option for Michigan, and he uses that 6'9" frame well to fill out the box score.

Hes far more athletic than his brother, too.

Yup, and man, he uses it too. You see so many of these big wings with tantalizing physical tools who don't consistently apply those tools to play winning basketball. You can tell Franz really values every single possession on both ends of the court. Good formula to earn a lottery pick.
