This is supposed to be a loaded draft. Who are you hoping for?

Personally, I'd love to see a big come on to be developed with KPJ, Sexton, Okoro, Windler and Garland, but my biggest wish is that we come out of this draft with our alpha. Our guy that can put us on their back and carry us to buckets, and wins, when things bog down.

The Cavs probably scouting for next year's draft now....

Our receipt of recent draft capital expenditure:

PG - #8, #4
SG - #5, #30
SF - #26
PF -
C -

With TT’s departure, Drummond’s soon after and Love not facturing in long term, it seems our rather poor roster building exercise has lead us to desperately needing a big man. Ideally we could find a player who is a true 3 but has the size and attitude to also slide to the 4. Those guys are impossible to find but who knows. :chuckle:

The one bummer about this draft is most of my favorite non Cade prospects are 2’s (Green, Springer, etc). The guy who will be the most fun to watch develop is Keon Johnson (another 2 unfortunately). That guy looks like he has Zion like athleticism. Tennessee is going to be really fun to watch with this incoming class.

It is nice we will get to see these guys so quickly. Hopefully the college season actually happens.

All the best players are SG/SF. What have we done?!?!?!?!

Best players relative to what? Our own roster? Or to equivalent talent in the NBA?

I know it is an unpopular opinion, which is fine but to me, two of the four guys we drafted (Garland, KPJ) are not plus players relative to their NBA peers.

Why does that matter? Because we are going to dedicate developmental minutes to them in addition to likely not drafting at their spots. If we aren’t drafting at PG or SG, that may throw out 2/3 of the lottery prospects in this draft and also compound our mistake on Garland specifically.

Long way to go, so we’ll see what happens, I just think we have done a subpar job in where we have spent that draft capital, relative to the available options. I’m hoping Garland really takes a leap forward but we’ll see.

Best players are SG/SF in this draft. We just drafted a SG/SF.

If the draft list stays in similar order, we may have make some tough decisions. Someone is going to need to be traded imho.

Better to trade someone than not pick BPA for a roster like ours, which needs talent.

There is a cap of course (like let's not select another 6'1 guard) but a wing being able to play 2-3-4 in today's league certainaly widens the options for guys.

Between Kuminga, Jalen Johnson, Scottie Barnes, and Ziaire Williams, there are a lot of good true SF and combo forward prospects.

Kuminga especially may grow into his body even more as a player who reclassified up not this draft class and just turned 18 last month.

Mobley has size but he looks like he has Bosh finesse/body type without Bosh’s jumper. Maybe I haven’t seen enough of him though?

i see international prospect usman garuba as a profile the cavs would be searching for. hard worker, defensive minded, blue collar type of player.
