2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My model would rate these picks as:

Santi Aldama - Smoking Crack
RaiQuan Gray - UDFA by a good margin
Dalano Banton - UDFA by a good margin
Balsa Koprivicia - Intriguing

Koprivicia was a miss for me. He has a really solid rotational center profile.

With the Cavs not having 2nd this season, I really had trouble finding the motivation to do the deep diving.

Anyone who doesn't have data is dead to me. :chuckle:

So I didn't have Kalaitzakis......but I also ignore the random Euro stash players that don't have data.

If there is an easy way to get it, I plug it in......but if it is some guy I've literally never heard of, I just move on. :chuckle:

How does this statline sound to you?

27 points
9 boards
3 assists
3 steals
2 blocks
25 fouls...oh shit, wait, these are his season totals

I am sad that the Fouls didn't outnumber the points. Then it would have been impressive.

Koprivica's just above replacement level on my model basically for being tall and alive. His offense is really lackluster though. Doesn't shoot, doesn't pass, doesn't draw fouls. Why was he drafted over Huff? I don't understand.

Because a name like that is easier to "trick" other GMs into thinking he's talented and taking in trade a few years later.

In Mobley we may have one of the few guys who is actually his listed height or even higher.

No slight aimed at Barnes, just more about how these heights are all over the place for almost all players.

I watched some film of Davis in Kentucky because I wanted to compare him to Mobley, and man, even though we definitely got an awesome prospect in Mobley, it's just laughable how good Davis was in terms of the way he moved at that size, how active he was, and how quick off the floor he was. It's freaky to watch. Even though he shot terribly in this game.

Yep. Mobley moves great for his size, but people need to pump the breaks on the AD and KD comparisons.

Davis was 6'9-6'10 in college and went from like 6 ft to 6'8 in 4 year. He basically grew two inches a year from 13-18... Apparently Mobley had a similar growth spurt but was 6'11 entering college. He's definitely closer to Chris Bosh with his movement though, AD ran way more smooth for his size. My fear is that Wiseman was quite mobile as well and as a NBA player he just doesn't look like he was worth the pick. But I think Mobley's defensive ability and offensive prowess is why he's being compared to Davis. Not necessarily the freakish mobility at his size. Mobley has a super soft touch at the rim.

Mobley is more smooth than explosive. Similar to KPJ actually, but that is more than enough for the NBA.

Slight difference from Cade in that Barnes was measured at the combine and everyone knew his actual height before the draft. And he had that freaky good wingspan.

Barnes has a 9'0 standing reach, for example Ingram is 9'1.5, or Thon Maker is 9'2.5 or Siakim is 8'11.5

My point is 9'0 is a decent standing reach for a pf, I threw in Ingram to show what a long sf standing reach is. (Kevin Durant was 9'2 as a very long sf or sg or whatever position he plays)

Since Cade didnt take measurements, we can just guess by pictures and he looks 6'5 to me, but based upon AAU measurements, they say he has a 7 foot wing span, really hard to tell to be honest.

Actually hate when they dont measure at the combine, i get dont play. Pissed me off Mobley didnt measure, but I think he is actually 7'1 based upon who he stands next too, we will see soon I guess.

As I have said in the past, he is the most like AD in recent memory.

AD is just far and away the best defensive college prospect I can personally remember.

While Mobley is not a truly elite defensive prospect he is at least close and Mobley does have more distinct edges over AD offensively.

He shot at higher volume, he had more scoring volume, he showed more potential as a 3PT shooter in college, (to me) he is a much more mechanically sound shooter, he had double the AST%.

Mobley is more like a Nerlins Noel type on defense but I do believe his offensive ceiling is a touch higher than AD...just as a more dynamic guy on that end. I don't know that he gets there but I honestly think the apex of Mobley is that of someone you could run your offense through. Davis is a very effective offensive player but he (to me) falls a notch below all of the more transcendent players at the forward / center position.

I think AD is a far safer bet to be the better NBA player but I can envision a world where Mobley is 85-90% of the defender AD is but then is a more dynamic offensive player. Everything needs to go right in that scenario but it at least seems plausible to me.

Oh, I'm not arguing whatsoever about Mobley's defensive impact. I'm very optimistic about it. That sort of length and athleticism can be a real difference maker in the NBA.

I'm just saying Mobley doesn't move the same way as AD.

Mobley moves more like Bosh, but he is a better defender than Bosh a bit more length and a bit more athletic.

I dont think Mobley will be quite as good as AD, but better than Bosh...thats why i keep saying somewhere between Bosh and AD.

Considering both are first ballot HOFers, that is really fucking good, lol.
