Crowder defends well. Last year he's part of the reason the heat beat the bucks by being a pest against giannis. This year he's helped the suns limit lebron and paul george.

But lebron failing to "elevate"??? Nah...

What is it this board thinks Jae Crowder is right now vs. what Jae Crowder has been?

Because he's the exact same player today he always has been his entire career.

Which is to say, not very good.
I think Crowder is better in a system rather than just sitting and waiting to shoot 3s and play defense. He plays better with movement off the ball which he excels in Boston, Utah, and Phoenix.

Better in a system and good physical defender are both true, when he wants to be.. I think he did not want to be either of those in cleveland..

But let's not rank him higher than he is. This year he is a pivotal piece, but is also one of the easiest to replace on the sun's roster..

And the comment about Derozen.. no Crowder is not better than Derozen, but he might be more suited to what the sun's need. the Sun's can score buckets, which is Demars best skill. But they need physical guys to handle the bucks.. if this series is a free-for-all, And giannis returns 75+% , bucks can bully their way to victory. There are a lot of physical players and the sun's have been somewhat fragile..

If the refs call a tight game, I think the sun's can outscore the bucks..

I would love to have someone like Chowder, but on this team ,where nobody cares about defence, ball movement and fast breaks he has little chance of showing his true skills.

I think there are guys on this team who care about defense. Some, like Sexton, aren't good off-ball, but his effort certainly is there. And there's Nance, Okoro, etc..

But I can imagine that Crowder wasn't thrilled with the clear lack of defensive effort starting at the top in 2017-18.

I've always found the most valuable part of Crowder's game to be thath e gets under other peoples skin. Kinda like Beverly.

NOt sure that's a compliment or an insult if that's the most valuable part of your game.

Kawhi reportedly unhappy with the Clippers medical staff, just like in San Antonio. Maybe we can send somebody from the Cleveland Clinic to talk to his agent :chuckle:

Random as hell, but a journalist named Matt Sullivan got in really close with KD and Kyrie and wrote a book called "Can't Knock the Hustle." Dude has an excerpt about how Kyrie refused to get a shoulder surgery earlier in the 2019-2020 season angering Nets management. Nets doctors had to convince him that they wouldn't break his body during the shoulder surgery which was something he was convinced happened in Cleveland hence the link lol. There were parts in there where the Nets were circumventing the salary cap by buying/renting apartment or homes for girls in various cities for these guys.

After listening to this interview, you realize why Kyrie left Boston, how much of what he's doing was learned from LeBron and how scared Nets management is to rock the boat considering how close KD is to Kyrie.

His signature mean mug after hitting his first shot of the night bringing him to 1-9 is more valuable than a Curry three or a LeBron breakaway dunk.

One thing I will give him credit for is that he always finds himself on a good and gritty team and is now probably on his way to being a champion. The Crowder mystery to me is how he can never hit anything other than a three on a basketball court and he barely hits those.

Anyone shocked by anything in that book has clearly never paid attention to the NBA.

Lol that’s true but it’s less about the what and more about how surprisingly embedded this guy got. Maybe it’s just an indictment on how poor sports journalism is currently where you only get to see parts of a players life that was carefully crafted for marketing reasons.

Give Mike Brown his flowers!!
