2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My "other" teams and why I root for them:

East: Knicks then Philly
West: Denver then Phoenix

Knicks: I've always had a soft spot for the Knicks. Starks was my favorite player for a few years and they just grew on me. The fact that they've been terrible for years helps. Also, that their terrible owner finally got out of his own way and this is the result, encourages me for us. I loved Oakley and Mason during those Riley years too.

Philly: I've wanted Doc to win since leaving Boston. Always wanted Doc to win more than Ainge. I read the Trust The Process book a few months ago and it reminded me how much I loved Embiid coming out. Philly is a city just like Cleveland in how they love their teams but they keep letting them down, so I'm pulling for them to get theirs and make the finals over Brooklyn or Milwaukee out of the favorites in the East.

Denver: Mike Malone. Always loved the guy. Should have replaced Mike Brown. He got a raw deal in Sacramento and for good measure, he just goes to the next city and effectively does the same thing. They are due, unfortunate what happened with Jamal Murray but wouldnt that make it even better if they somehow went all the way anyway? Love Jokic's uniqueness. Love the way Denver has built their team up and love that they took chances this deadline and pushed all their chips in anyway.

Phoenix: I want CP3 to get his. I love Champ and Monty Williams deserves everything coming his way after the loss of his wife and how he was done dirty in NOLA. He paid his dues. If not Mike Malone, I really want Monty Williams to get to the Finals.

I could go with that. Always hated the Knicks, but @ACisKING has been here for so long as a good sport that it would be nice just for him to get a win.

Both of those West teams are likeable for the reasons you gave. I have a lot of respect for what Malone has done with Jokic's abilities -- I suspect a lot of other coaches wouldn't have been that willing to break the mold of how offenses are "supposed to" operate in the modern NBA. Denver at least makes games more interesting to watch.

These aren’t officially Playoff games, right?

Are they considered an extension of the regular season, then? Or are they their own thing?

Just gonna say that Ja Morant has been staggeringly mediocre this season and his ascendency to stardom is in question at this point.
This would have been blasphemous a year ago, but..... could Garland be on a better trajectory than Morant?

Per 36:
DG: 18.9 points, 6.6 assists, 1.3 steals, 3.3 turnovers, 45.1% FG%, 49.5% 3P%, 84.8% FT% (24.5% usage)
Morant: 21.1 points, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 3.6 turnovers, 44.9% FG%, 30.3% 3P%, 72.8% FT% (26.7% usage)

DG a year behind in development and made a huge leap this season. Morant stagnated. Morant's terrible shooting ability would reeeaaalllly worry me if I was a Memphis fan.

Morant isn’t even the best guard on his team some nights. Dillon Brooks is a beast.

Grizzlies aren’t going anywhere until Ja’s shooting significantly improves.

I like him a lot, but it’s disappointing to see he’s made no improvement there yet.

I said this in the Garland thread after watching Memphis close out the season.

That gap is not what it seemed to be coming into the season

Look at these Warriors man

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is getting spicy

Wiggins just hit a nasty move on LeBron

They spoke on this in the 1st. These play in games essentially dont exist statistically.
