2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He also refused to recruit the first time around. He also quit in the Boston series.
I don't believe either of those things. But can you tell me who Giannis recruited?

LeBron said he left to go to Miami and team up with DWade to "learn how to become a champion". Well, Giannis figured that shit out all on his own without having to go team up with other All NBA players like LeBron, KD, and AD had to do.

IMO this is really underappreciating the job the Bucks FO did in building the team around him.

Why is this becoming a LeBron vs Giannis debate ?

LeBron is light years better of a player… Giannis (and how the Bucks won is how I wish my superstar would have won me a title)

Being said, I would not trade the 16 title for this one…

Beating a a team who beat you the year prior, who won 73 games and talked shit all year— and beating them on their floor (sure winning at home would be nice but winning in that specific arena was just as sweet plus you get the plane landing celebration)… I would not trade beating the Warriors for beating the Suns..

That being said… I would trade the LeBron James kinda star for the Giannis one…

Now the flip side to that is when LeBron retires he’s gonna be up the Cavs ass.. He will go down as the 2nd best player ever.. And as a Cavs fan that’s cool to realize he spent the majority of his career in Cleveland… He will get the statue — he will be the guy sitting courtside as Cavs games when the Cavs are back competing…However, thus far, Giannis has that Dirk, Duncan, David Robinson, one franchise vibe and that’s better…

I don't think it's a debate on LeBron vs Giannis, I think even LeBron-haters would admit Giannis has a lonnnnng way to go before he's that discussion. I think it's more stars that stay with one team vs stars that leave, how much the orgs that draft them should be responsible, and how it impacts legacies.

They are also formed when the organization who drafts the superstar can't build a winning team around him.

It's easy to crown Giannis the anti-superteam hero but also fair to wonder what he would do if the Bucks didn't build a great team around him. Dame has always been anti-movement, anti-super team. Now that he's 31 and sees the writing on the wall in Portland, that's starting to change.

I'm not so sure that the Bucks did build a "great team" around Giannis. Middleton is a legit good player, but he's probably the worst No. 2 on a championship team in a long time. A lot of the rest of that team consists of role players. Jrue pretty much shit the bed offensively in that series, and people were saying here that P.J. didn't even belong on the court.

Also, I don't know if Giannis put the same pressure on the organization to win now that LBJ was constantly exerting on the Cavs.

The lack of recruiting and quitting in the Boston series has been no secret but of course you dont believe those things. You're a LeBron stan/fanboy/worshiper. I'm not trying to attack you either by saying that. I've just never once, ever, seen you take the side against LeBron in debate. No matter how big or small the claim is. LeBron can do no wrong in your eyes. It is what it is. Everyone on this board has their thing... Los likes to make outlandish contrarian statements, Chris is a pessimist, SirDom LOVES him some prospects, etc. You're the LeBron guy.

Giannis is everything us Cavs fans (not LeBron fans, Cavs fans) wanted LeBron to be.
This is exactly right and I had this exact same thought last night. I'm jealous of Milwaukee fans. This to me is the best sports championship in recent memory.

Imagine if LeBron re-upped in 2010 and within a few years broke through to win a title (like Giannis just did). That would have been incredible. And we'd all value it more than the title we did get.

LeBron wasn't going to win in Cleveland if he stayed the first time.
I disagree. It may not have happened right away, but prime LeBron was too good to not win a title at some point. Yes he needed more help, but eventually you would think the Cavs would have managed to bring someone in to help. Just like it took the Bucks awhile, but finally got Jrue Holiday to come.

Hell, LeBron may have won in 2011 had he stayed with the Cavs. The only reason the Heat lost to the Mavs was because LeBron mindfucked himself. That doesn't happen if he stays in Cleveland.

Patience is a virtue, one Giannis has and LeBron doesn't. And Giannis is being rewarded for it, as he should. People have come to realize that not all Championships are equal. What Giannis did is pretty much the pinnacle of what an NBA player can accomplish and it will be remembered as such. People will be talking about this title forever.

Not every hard worker becomes an All-NBA player for various reasons.

I like Collin and think he continues to improve as a player.

Giannis should not be a comparison. These are two completely different players with different skill sets and ceilings.

You can't just want your way to being an NBA champion.
Did i say it's what it all takes? I just said fire/want/drive should be taken in consideration.

And of course giannis and collin are different. Giannis can't shoot a three while collin can, just to counter you.

Yeah I definitely don’t feel that bubble title was legit at all.. Like the Dodgers in baseball, I don’t really count that as a legit championship..

I don’t care about family and friends not being around and the mental capacity one has to play with in order to lock in..

Damn championship took place in a convention center ballroom..No travel, no time zone change, no fans.. That was garbage..

The dude I kinda feel for is AD.. If that goes down as the only championship he wins it’s pretty damn sad…Wikipedia says it counts but yeah that’s as worthless of a title I have ever witnessed

At least the Dodgers/MLB season ran continuously from start of season to end of World Series. Even if it was a very weird and abbreviated season.

The NBA season literally stopped for 4.5 months and then restarted. That's the usual length of the offseason in a normal year.

It's the least watched, talked about, cared about title of all time. Unless you're a Laker or LeBron fan it's not really going to be remembered or revisited by anyone.

Jigo and Damage have some weird bromance thing going that I've grown jealous of this summer... Don't forget that (kicks the dog)

Well, you were asking why fans don't like Collin since he has the same work ethic as Giannis.

I think we're just being realistic about his skill set and how it fits on a winning team. That's all.

One thing that hasn't even been mentioned yet is all the players that opted out of the bubble. Like, a ton of players didn't even participate because there was this pandemic thing going on in the world. That alone makes it the least relevant sports title probably ever, in my opinion. Teams had to pull players off the street just to be able to play. It was like watching The Replacements.

Another thing about that title is that the Lakers played a Miami Heat team that had absolutely zero business being in The Finals. I can't think of a worse finalist in a sports championship in my lifetime.
