2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You're a LeBron stan/fanboy/worshiper. I'm not trying to attack you either by saying that. I've just never once, ever, seen you take the side against LeBron in debate. No matter how big or small the claim is. LeBron can do no wrong in your eyes. It is what it is.

That's unfair:

The way he left was bullshit. It's a black mark on his career that will always be there.

I have seen @Steve_424 criticize LBJ before this for some of the things he's done. He clearly likes LBJ, but he also has criticized him on occasion.

The lack of recruiting and quitting in the Boston series has been no secret but of course you dont believe those things. You're a LeBron stan/fanboy/worshiper. I'm not trying to attack you either by saying that. I've just never once, ever, seen you take the side against LeBron in debate. No matter how big or small the claim is. LeBron can do no wrong in your eyes. It is what it is. Everyone on this board has their thing... Los likes to make outlandish contrarian statements, Chris is a pessimist, SirDom LOVES him some prospects, etc. You're the LeBron guy.

When one runs out of arguments they resort to making it personal. I've never once labeled you despite our disagreements. Can we agree to do better than this post?

One thing that hasn't even been mentioned yet is all the players that opted out of the bubble. Like, a ton of players didn't even participate because there was this pandemic thing going on in the world. That alone makes it the least relevant sports title probably ever, in my opinion. Teams had to pull players off the street just to be able to play. It was like watching The Replacements.

Another thing about that title is that the Lakers played a Miami Heat team that had absolutely zero business being in The Finals. I can't think of a worse finalist in a sports championship in my lifetime.

Sasha Pavlovic, Larry Hughes, and Drew Gooden would like a word :chuckle:

Good point on the opt-outs. I don't recall who did though if I'm being honest. Did any stars?

I'm not so sure that the Bucks did build a "great team" around Giannis. Middleton is a legit good player, but he's probably the worst No. 2 on a championship team in a long time. A lot of the rest of that team consists of role players. Jrue pretty much shit the bed offensively in that series, and people were saying here that P.J. didn't even belong on the court.

Also, I don't know if Giannis put the same pressure on the organization to win now that LBJ was constantly exerting on the Cavs.

I'm a big fan of Middleton. Not flashy, maybe doesn't have the elite traits of other stars, but he sure does step up in some big moments and is a true gamer.

As for pressure, I don't know what Giannis did or didn't do. I will note he signed his extension one month after they paid a steep price in assets for Holiday.

Maybe "great" is strong, but I do think they built a really good squad.

Yo this kid went to Chick Fil-A this morning and ordered a 50 piece chicken minis…. I can’t… Champion Giannis is my new fave…

50 piece? That is expensive, hope he has enough money to cover that. That order is going to come to $30.

Way to moderate Q. Using our powers to bring balance to a discussion.

Happy to be on team mod with you

Otis Thorpe/Vernon Maxwell is the only one that comes to mind with the 93-94 Rockets that was worse than Middleton. I like Middleton, good player, but he is more of a 3rd best on a championship team.

I welcome those to bring others, and my knowledge really only goes back to around 1980.

2007 Cavs has to be the worst team ever to make a finals, but i am sure i am forgetting, 1993-94 Rockets are the worst to ever win.

If not for a borderline top 5 all time great in Hakeem, that team might not even be a playoff team.

Probably used Apple Pay… Damnit Giannis is so charming…

Meanwhile LeBron is driving through the streets of LA with his Tequila taped to his roof…

If I had to symbolize what’s going on with Giannis & LeBron in terms of popularity right now I think this captures it…

I don't get how we're still pretending LeBron may have stayed here or there or anywhere.

How many teams does the man have to leave? Went to 4 straight Finals with the Heat. Left.

4 straight with the Cavs.

Left.

He has zero patience and the moment he feels the team might not be able to win a title the next season he bolts. Over and over again. How is this STILL a discussion?

Miami sure as shit would have been able to rebuild a contender around him if he had even the slightest amount of patience.

BUt he always got excuses.

"Well, he left Miami because Arison stopped spending blah blah blah."

That's the point. Zero patience. Never willing to let a franchise reset a little. You know the Bucks haven't paid ANY luxury tax? My god people would be falling over themselves to make excuses for LeBron if the Cavs didn't go into thel uxury tax for him.

2007 Cavs also had LeBron, who was far and away better than anyone on that Heat team.

A quick google brought back this:

  • Spencer Dinwiddie
  • DeAndre Jordan
  • Wilson Chandler
  • Bradley Beal
  • Davis Bertans
  • Willie Cauley-Stein
  • Avery Bradley
  • Trevor Ariza
  • Taurean Prince
  • Thabo Sefalosha

I think more ended up opting out, though. Didn't some guys even leave after initially going? Either way, looks like Beal was the only "star" but plenty of rotation players.

It's worth noting each decision turned out well for him and two of the three times involved trusting Dan Gilbert if he were to stay longer.
