2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Giannis is what kd could have been. Stuck with OKC and go out there and play with some heart and not be stopped. Giannis one ring means more than all of KDs

Here's my issue with all of the media members saying Giannis is better than Durant now.

If the Nets win next year with a healthy team, they'll reverse course.

But that makes no sense. The Nets would have won THIS year with a healthy. Does that mean Durant is better or worse?

Or does it simply mean Durant's team is better?

Titles mean something. They should. But when people do this player vs. player comparison just counting up rings means a little too much.

Durant is probably never gonna enter my top 10 players of all time because of how utterly stacked the teams he's winning on and how neither of them came about naturally.

That's just my take on Durant. We talk about LeBron not having a bunch of titles that are worth a lot, but Durant's are gonna be even more valueless.

So when a healthy Nets team rolls the East next year, that doesn't suddenly make Durant better than GIannis. Or, if you're of the opinion he is better, then Durant losing that series this year didn't make him worse than Giannis.

Now if Giannis somehow beats them next year, then that kinda does end the debate. :chuckle: :chuckle:

People are being reactionary. It's why I hate when people bring up team accolades when talking about who's better.

I love Giannis. When they're both healthy, Durant is currently the better player. Durant's ability behind the arc more than makes up for Giannis's strength advantage.

I always make a distinction between better/greater. Better is just who's better. Straight up new team, nobody on your roster, who are you taking. Greater has to deal with accomplishments and accolades.

Giannis has an innocence and refreshing sense of wonder that is wonderful to see in anyone, much
less a professional athlete of his stature. No sense of entitlement of having a 'brand'. He never
had all the hype that Lebron experienced at such a young age. Giannis doesn't seem as
full of himself as most superstars in any profession. Lebron usually comes across to me as overly polished and aware of his image.

LeBron, Durant and a bunch of Hollywood stars act like divas because the world has treated them like divas since they were teenagers. It’s just how our culture works. Tons of money and fame that early screws up a lot of people - some severely, some become insufferable, a few stay normal (not sure there’s much normal these days). LeBron has done a good job with his career, family and philanthropy but he’s becoming somewhat annoying.

What‘s amazing is that Giannis is coming across as an old school good hearted kid from the Midwest - and he’s from Athens Greece not Athens Ohio. Everything about him is appealing. Plus he’s 26 and has a lot of years ahead of him.

He‘s my favorite NBA player now. He’s done something Durant hasn’t done, which is take his team to a Championship. (GSW was never his team and his leaving Ok City to join a 73 win team doesn’t equal what Giannis did even if he won Bill Russell Awards).

I wonder how many of those 50 sandwiches he actually ate. Milwaukee should have a contest held on July 20 every year: Food eating contest, first to eat 50 Chick-Fil-A mini sandwiches wins. That would be as big as Joey Chestnut Coney Island hotdogs or Mushmouth Mariano Pachetti Pizza in Cleveland.

This would be like Boobie Gibson at the 2016 parade…

Kevin Durant isn't a diva. The media that covers him is trying to turn him into a diva the same way they tried to turn LeBron into a villain when he went to Miami. It's stupid and now the same thing that happened to LeBron is happening to KD right now. The media tried to make KD a villain for going to GSW so that they could spend years tearing him down only to come crawling back on his jock when they and fans felt satisfied about how he's playing and his team.

Just look at how many people all of a sudden said that they have respect for KD now. That's corny as hell. You have respect for him because two of his teammates got injured and his team didn't win the title even though they were favorites? The silliest thing with NBA fans to me is when they act like there's style points with winning. All of this legacy talk is bogus to be quite honest. Every time it gets brought up people flip flop depending on which player they're talking about.

In 7 years when KD is passing LeBron on the All Time scoring list and he has about 2 or 3 more Championships under his belt people are gonna completely forget all the corny things they said about him for going to GSW. Just like LeBron actually gets defending more for going to Miami now then he did when it happened. What changed? He had to come crawling back to his hometown team to win a titke for fans and media to fully accept him? That's garbage.

And he dipped out again and went to LA lolololololololol. Then won a title. Now people are simply moving on to Giannis as the next guy to de-thrown LeBron and I think it's funny when you consider that LeBron is still playing and KD is still playing and both guys are trying to win more titles so they're going to put more space between them and Giannis. hell Kawhi will widen the gap even more if he wins another title in the next few seasons.

I vividly remember in December when all the talk was about Giannis being unhappy and unsure about re-signing in Milwaukee and headed towards Free Agency. The rumors about Dallas (lol) New York (lol) or some other team signing him this summer. Then he re-signs and all of the coverage on him does a 180. No more talk about his playoff failures. Shit, he was getting killed after they went down 0-2 to Brooklyn.

Narratives. They be changing.

Congrats to The Milwaukee Bucks organization and the city of Milwaukee and all of their fans. You're NBA Champions. Enjoy.

This should probably be the last post in this thread so let's get this offseason started shall we?

Well this is back into the Los personal feelings stuff.

A dude who pretends to be other people and talk shit about his former teammates on Twitter is a diva, by most people's definition.

What do you mean about people having respect for Durant? I don't see that. Just because I can objectively say he's a better player than Giannis doesn't mean that leaving OKC to join GSW wasn't a bitch move.

In fairness one could make the argument that Durant isn’t a diva, he’s a bitch.

I’m much too polite to make that argument though.

Ignore does wonders to cut down on thread clutter.

If anyone is going to shitpost to ruin threads, it's me.

Didn’t read most of this but I’ll never have any respect for KD regardless of what he does so at least I’m not corny I guess

Kevin Durant just tweeted at Bam about ball hogging. Kevin Durant is a diva. A very talented diva, but a diva. You can think someone is a bitch but still respect their skill. I don't think anyone is taking away from his ability but if we're comparing them on levels of who was willing to push through consistent bad situations and ones who run to the team that beat them 3-1 in the conference finals... KD is a massive diva. I'd say one of the biggest in the league. LeBron is definitely up there, but because he brought Cleveland a title, I'm willing to look the other way.
