2021 NFL Draft: Day 1

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Plus they have Hubbard still. Who knows how he’ll handle the knee injury, but he can play all over in a pinch when healthy.

Hubbard wasn't all that good before the injury (his play was why we signed Conklin), and his knee injury was a bad one. Multiple torn ligaments, dislocated kneecap, and it happened in mid-December. We can't count on him for anything.

Unless they're blue chippers, tackles take time to develop. I'd love to see us draft one in a middle round and take advantage of Callahan's teaching for as long as we can keep him as a coach.

I could be in the minority here, but I think the Browns have a lot more developmental OL depth guys that they like than most people seem to think.

Alex Taylor, Drew Forbes, Nick Harris, Michael Dunn, Blake Hance and Greg Senat are all aged 22-26. Some of them played and did fine last year. Others they liked enough to sign and hold on to.

ok this is a fair point. Thanks for pointing this out.

With how deep this class is, there should be someone available in the middle-later rounds.

Spencer Brown anyone?

No?

He was pretty good last year in his time on the field.

What about his injury, though? From what I remember, it was pretty wicked. And given that it happened in December rather than August, his recovery timetable for this season seems to be pretty short.

It's not like he was so good that "80% of Chris Hubbard is good enough ", either. I just can't imagine that the Browns have him pencilled in at all for this season.

I definitely expect them to take an offensive lineman at some point, but more so Day 3... There’s still defensive depth to address on the front seven before they address offensive line depth...

Right now they are pretty well set with Hubbard (swing player), Harris (center/interior), and one of Hance/Dunn/Forbes as their top 8.. They lost Lamm this year and Hubbard is in the last year of his deal, so I’d expect a developmental tackle in round 4 or 5...

They do have Alex Taylor and Greg Senat who they seem to like a lot, but I don’t think that’ll stop them from looking at a mid round tackle...

I expect edge, DT and LB with their next three picks...

If they go Center, Menet and the guy from Stanford make a ton of sense too.

I wonder if the Browns have interest in Quinn Meinerz. He was apparently destroying people during Senior Bowl week.
