NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That sounds highly suspect.

I don't believe the Jets turned down a first-rounder to get a lesser package from Carolina.

Maybe the timing was different. Maybe the pick was multiple years in the future. It's possible. I'm just skeptical.

I'm forever skeptical of any off-season "almost happened" type of leaks.

Shanahan also seems like the type of guy who would absolutely just mess with media people like that and create some confusion around their decision making.

I also think Darnold would look really fucking good in that offense... his size, mobility, and underneath passing would look really good in that offense. After watching what scrubs like Beathard and Mullen can do over there, Darnold would feast. Kittle, Deebo and Aiyuk with that horizontal pressure on a defense, would make Darnold look pretty good.

I know the 49ers kicked the tires on any number of upgrade scenarios. They talked briefly about Watson before the allegations. They definitely talked to the Lions about Stafford. Where a trade for Darnold actually fell in all those discussions is simply "not the choice which actually happened."

I think Shanny is one of the coaches who could take Justin Fields and turn him into an absolute superstar as well.

Not many spots in this league where you'd be coming into a nearly perfect scenario for a rookie QB.

Trent Williams at LT and a decent OL, WR/TE perfectly set for a WCO system with short reads and good separation skills.

Fields ability to get out of the pocket on PA and on the reads out of shotgun, seems like a great fit to me.

But again, I've semi-retired from QB analysis so long as the Browns are out. :chuckle:

This screams gettleman to me, even though they pick 11th, I believe.

That's an incredibly bad look for the GM. It shows the guy is incapable of remembering what the shutdown was like just a few months ago.

If those players do slide, the team who rolls the dice gets great value. There is a difference between not wanting to work out and not being able to work out.

Exactly, a perfect case of some things are best left unsaid.
