NFL Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You know, that awful football team...

My source was NFL Network radio. They interviewed another Falcon receiver whose name escapes me (McSomething) and he said exactly that. Show hosts concurred and added anecdotes. Say what you will about numbers, over a ten year career they mean something. Its not as if he suffered from inadequate QB play or a woeful offense either. Not saying he wasn't a beast in his prime, but he wasn't a complete package. You may dislike the presentation but the facts remain.
Is your argument that Julio Jones is bad at something that leads to scoring touchdowns? If so, what is it? Is he too small? Problems getting open? Can't elevate? Bad YAC player?

To me, this sounds like you're trying to build a narrative because of a statistic, which is doing things in the opposite direction.

You ask me to explain his low TD total, it's likely a combination of things. Bad luck, an offense that doesn't force balls to the X receiver in the red zone, and a QB that can't throw a fade to save his life all play parts in it. I'd also point out that he's had multiple 8+ TD seasons... so did he just get good at scoring TD's in those years? Nah, it's just that TD's are a noisy, random stat that say little about the player. Julio Jones has every ability you could ask for, and at the end of the day that's what matters--not the stats a player compiles that are dependent on so many factors the player does not control.

I'm sorry, but anyone saying Julio Jones "wasn't a complete package" and also ending with that last sentence of yours needs to re-evaluate some thigs.

The Cavs are four years removed from a Finals appearance and five from a literal championship, the first in team history. They get a little bit of leeway even if they are terribly managed.

They're the worst run franchise in sports to me...

The Cavs? Probably not the worst run in basketball much less all of sports. Not saying they are good, but the worst? Wolves, Bulls, Magic, there are worse NBA franchises although the Cavs have the warts for sure.

Until management and latest coaching change, the Browns were the worst in football...that title is now the Jets or Texans, and the Browns might be top 5 best run.

Could post this in two threads, but I'll drop in here. Interesting dynamic playing out at Athletes First.

If there is anything the AFC needs more of, it’s a superstar QB joining another team with immense, ready-to-play offensive talent
But do we really think the texans are dumb enough to trade Watson to an AFC team.....

... Yeah they probably are now that I think about it

They have ZERO reason to make a deal now. Watson is a predator and still gets his way.

I don’t think I agree. Here’s a very plausible scenario:

Texans have decided they are ready to move on.
Texans believe Watson will have a serious punishment coming.
Texans believe Watson’s value, currently, is its peak.

The Texans moved on when they signed and drafted a QB to replace the QB who is absolutely never going to play for them again.

The quiet around the controversy suggests a settlement and a brush under the rug of all these allegations that we may or may not see play out under oath.

At which point, I’d imagine you’ll see a move relatively quickly.

It would behoove the Texans to just sit tight and wait this out before dealing, IMO.

If they deal him today, they're selling low for no particular reason.

Watson's only path towards resolving this and getting off the commissioner's exempt list anytime soon is by seeking settlement. He's not going to burn a year or more of his prime fighting all of these cases.

The settlements should get sorted out within the next couple months, upon which his value returns to its previous worth. Then you can go back to demanding that young FQB king's ransom trade package.
