2021 RCF Mock Draft: Discussion, Trades and Miscellany

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Neither AJ Green nor Chad Johnson were generational prospects, and neither is Chase in my opinion. I think Lawrence is the only generational prospect in this draft FWIW.

Personally, and this might just be me, but I think Chase is better than Jeudy and Lamb (or Ruggs) coming out last year.

I could make an argument he’s a generational prospect for his position, and I definitely think he’ll be among the most productive long term players in this class.

That's pretty common consensus from what I've seen. I've read a lot of "best WR prospect since Amari Cooper" online.

And it makes sense. This is the guy who relegated Justin Jefferson, the guy who just had the greatest rookie WR season of all time, to second banana. He good.

SF is built to win right now right? in a very tough division. In my very limited opinion Lance is not gonna be a reliable QB until end of 2nd or probably 3rd year. I am not saying kid won't be good but if SF has expectations to win the next 2 years it is not gonna happen in a division with Wilson, Stafford, and Murray.

Rumors say Bengals are taking Chase. They think he is that good and one of the reasons Philly went from 6 to 12. if they not getting chase at 6 they can get 1 of the Bama wr at 12.

Love the Detroit pick but that is 2 very high draft picks on TE. The low position value would blow their analytics mind.

If SF adds a rookie contract to the mix rather than the Jimmy G monstrosity, then it becomes a roster that will extend its window.

I thought about that in regards to Detroit but truly I don't care at that point. Kyle Pitts is maybe the most talented player in this draft and you can play both Pitts and Hockenson at the same time if you need to. If anyone could figure it out, I'm sure ex Payton and ex TE coach Dan Campbell will find a way.

good point on Dan Campbell.

I agree when u add the contract part to the mix u can acquire more talent to extend ur window. Ur able to extend ur guys and get some FAs. But what are the windows NFL teams have? U made me think so I did some research over the last 20 years.

NFL teams in top 10 with 5 years consecutive over last 20 years:
1. Saints--4 , 8 Brees
2. Bucs--5 Great roster
3. cowboys--5 Great Roster
4. Pats--19 Brady
5. Eagles--6, 4 Great Roster/McNabb
6. Seahawks--6 Great Roster
7. colts--8 Manning
8. Steelers--12 Great Roster/Rapist
9. Packers--10 Rodgers
10. Rams--5 Great Roster/Warner
11. Chargers--6 Great Roster/Rivers

So 4 with great QB, 3 with great roster, and 4 with a combo.

Paye at 8 to the Broncos. Is that a leap? It feels like a reach to me. I'm not fully versed, so he may have already been in that discussion.

Maybe? If you like the guy, you take the guy. Paye is likely a Top 20 pick, its definitely justifiable that some team likes him enough to jump.

Especially with Von Miller in what will likely be his last year as a Bronco.

It's close, but if they don't like any of the QB's, then I'm fine with them going pass rusher and building a soul crushing defense.

I really like what the Giants did addressing the offensive line for Jones.

I'm of the exact opposite mindset.

It doesn't matter who you have at tackle when your QB is Daniel Jones. He's going to hold the ball for way too long, get sacked, and fumble.

That franchise is going to be bottom-of-the-barrel until they find a new QB. This would've been a perfect chance to take Mac Jones and cleanse themselves of their woes.

I do my homework, homeboy. A couple of thoughts on the 49ers trade up:

1. Lance already conducted his Pro Day, and this trade happened at the same time as the Wilson Pro Day. I was left wondering: Why trade at that moment? Why not wait?

2. It's important to note Jones and Fields would not conduct their Pro Days for a few more days. On Tuesday, the Niners sent bodies to see Jones, not Fields.

3. Reading the tea leaves, I believe the Niners saw enough from Wilson and Lance to believe this draft has three quarterbacks who fit their long-term plans, and it seems Fields was an afterthought.

4. Greg Cosell broke down the issue with Fields pretty well:

“From a physical standpoint, there’s nothing (Fields) can’t do. You’re dealing with a kid who has a big arm, he’s a specimen. He’s a very talented kid and a high level traits guy,” Cosell said. “He kind of tended to be a bit late on some throws. At times he didn’t show a natural feel for the timing and anticipation that’s required. His recognition is a bit slow, I think his field vision needs work.”

5. The fact that Jimmy knows what Shanahan wants out of the quarterback position and is under contract is still a huge positive. What Jimmy can't do - escape pressure, make quick decisions, stay healthy - is why I believe Shanahan would prefer either Wilson or Lance to eventually take the job from Jimmy G.

I think I'm reading this right...

Completion % When Under Pressure = 33%, ranked #30
Completion % With Clean Pocket = 76%, ranked #12.

To me, it seems like OL is a good investment for NYG.

Fields has stretches of play which are borderline unwatchable, much less undraftable.

The risk factor of all of these guys is pretty alarming, to me.

I have no reason to believe Lance will need 2-3 years of development compared to Fields. I'd say all of them need a reasonable amount of development before they're even close to producing at a high level.

San Francisco and Atlanta having the ability to sit them behind a veteran player under contract for 2021 is all they need to start with. The rest is going to be subjective based on how much the players grow.
