Very sad to realize I will never see another Cleveland Indians game but I'm sure once the first pitch is thrown next season it will be all about the game and not the jersey.
It was great to see the franchise win the last game that they were known as the Indians. They went out a winner, at least for the last day if not the last season.
Yep, Gose looked phenomenal. Two K's and a bouncer back to the mound. He completely overmatched those hitters. He has to be in the plans for next year. Imagine if he started his career as a pitcher right out of high school instead of wasting eight years trying to be an outfielder. Maybe Bradley Zimmer will folllow in his footsteps.
That was a very impressive home run by Yu Chang - a fastball on the inside corner at the belt where he had to pull in his hands and was still able to get it over the wall in left when everybody else's drives were dying on the track. A great finish to a strong second half. I'd be fine with Chang starting at first or second base next year. Maybe a Naylor/Chang platoon at first base with Chang doubling as the utility infielder.
Nice to see Civale end the year with a win. He ended up 12-5 and had a shot at 20 wins if not for the injury.
This game might be the last we see of Wittgren, Zimmer, Shaw, and Mercado. Wittgren lost 9 games and had a 5.05 ERA. Shaw had seven losses and a 3.49 ERA. He'll be 34 next year and has pitched in nearly 700 games, including 81 this year. Zimmer and Mercado were like mirror images of each other. They both finished with an OPS of .669 - not what you need from a corner outfielder.
That's a wrap - the season is over.
