2021 Season | Final Series | Indians @ Rangers | Oct. 1-3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a hunch one of Zimmer/Mercado will be back in 22 and likely Mercado since he isn't Arb eligible plus he is a right handed bat and we have Naylor, Jones, Kwan etc all likely to have a chance in the OF from the left side...
Yeah, Zimmer and Daniel Johnson are in the vulnerable position of being left-handed hitting outfielders who have not been able to take advantage of their opportunities at the major league level, although to be fair Johnson has only had 89 at-bats.

I would agree that Naylor, Kwan, and Jones are all higher on the pecking order of left-handed outfielders. If it comes down to Zimmer or Mercado I agree it would be Oscar, who is two years younger.

I'll not miss any of the prospective replacement-level players we'll be exposing. It'll be 10 Adam Plutkos to one Jesus Aguilar, and that's a ratio I can live without.
Clear the decks for the next wave!

Needing depth pieces for next years OF assumes that we aren't gonna bring in quality OFs that are far better...an assumption that I highly doubt. Besides, depth OFs will be plentiful...and cheap...on the open market.

We will have Naylor at some point as a depth piece. We will have Valera, who should be ready in 2023.

I dont see any of Johnson, Harold, or Zimmer on this team in spring training, unless we have a disastrous off season. They simply aren't good enough....and beyond the age to expect more than what they are.
