2021 Season | Series #43 | Twins @ Indians | Sep. 6-9

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nothing wrong with this team that facing a 35-year-old with 8 career wins won't cure. That and Byron Buxton getting a day off.

In the fourth game of the series we finally got a run off their bullpen on Josie's dinger.

Quantrill is poised to have a spectacular 2022. So is McKenzie.

Our corner outfielders suck but Harold had two hits and Oscar had a home run and a walk. Chang chipped in with a couple of hits. This was a typical Indians win - great pitching, good defense, and just enough hitting, including contributions from guys down in the order like Chang and Mercado. But once the Twins started bringing in legitimate major league relief pitchers the Tribe was shut down, except for one swing by Josie.

Our corner outfielders now are unlikely to be our corner outfielders next year.

Put two real MLB corners outfielders in this lineup, and things will look different next year.

I'd like to see Franimal get some time in the OF during the final weeks of the 2021 season.. more than a token appearance.. some significant time.. preferably.. how he plays LF where he can be helped by the presence of Straw or Zimmer in CF.... This would not be what looks "different" next year..

Im not opposed to seeing Franmil roving the OF but think I prefer one of the AAA guys.

I honestly don't care too much about winning games at this point of the season, so the next best thing for me is seeing..... FRESHHH MEAT!!!!

Again, putting Franmil in the OF solves nothing, and risks a lot.

In comparison to other DHs, he ranks third in wRC+.

He ranks third in HRs, inspite having only 391 PAs. If he had as many PAs as Ohtani, he'd be second, behind only Ohtani with 38 at his present pace.

He is a lousy OF, but a great DH.

On Sept 28, 2015 in a game that meant absolutely nothing, Michael Brantley got hurt.

We lost his production for nearly two years.

On Aug 30th 2019 in a game that did count, Tyler Naquin got hurt.

He wasn't the same for over a year.

Franmil should never play in the outfield, unless it is absolutely a last resort...and NEVER in a game without meaning.

If an emergency comes up, stick a fringe reliever out there.

Absolutely not. He'd be even worse.

....but you are noting Franmil's 2021 improvement, right?

I think you're splitting hairs when comparing Reyes and HRam defensively. HRam can get to a few more balls, but can't catch or throw worth a shit while Reyes can catch the ball, has a big arm, and lacks range. If they want to bring in a bat like Cron to DH and play some 1B then I'd be fine with Reyes in LF, but I wouldn't make a move just to see the Franimal roaming around in the grass.

I'd like to see the Franimal transform his body like Bradley did before he plays any OF.

I'm not splitting hairs here @CDAV45

Weird's first step when reacting to the ball of the bat is a mystery.. he has the wheels to make up for this.. Franmil reacts well or instinctually.. but doesn't have the same wheels (although I would wager in a 100 foot sprint, it would be close).. Franmil has a RF'ers' arm and gets to most of the routine fly balls.. and that would be enough for this Indians fan.. If it permits him being a better hitter by being a more complete ball player.. then so be it..

Oh I agree Gson. Sorry, when I said "you're" it was speaking about anyone trying to compare the 2. IMO, Franmil is a better OF with less range than HRam. Now if he would hit the gym hard and get his body where it needs to be, I think he could actually be a pretty damn good corner OF.
