2021 Season | Series #48 | White Sox @ Indians | Sep. 23 - 26

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
ahh.. Sam Hentges replaces Eli Morgan.. good outing for Eli..

Hentges blows away the first hitter.. before offering up a mistake/cut fastball in the middle of the plate, mid thigh high that Eloy Jimenez hammers down the 3B line for a stand up double.. Mistakes like that.. get hit hard !

Minnesota paid BGSU $1.5 mil...and got beat.

Rutgers looked pretty good at scUM today.

Hentges blows Moncada away with a high tilt slider that dips into the bottom of the zone.. this is what makes Hentges sooo effective.. that high tilt slider.. Sam gets Leury Garcia to bang a ball into the dirt to Amed.. who creates a frozen rope across the diamond to end the half inning.. good pitching around a single mistake by Big Sam...

The Wimperines have one play.. that they run over and over and over.. Harbaugh should get consideration for Coach of the Year from the Ohio State Alumni Association..

Harbaugh has won it six consecutive years.

Did you know that every player on the Ohio State Varsity Football team has never seen the Chicken Yellow and Blew win a football game against the Scarlet and Gray.. in their entire lives... ?

Eli Morgan has had a 3.57 ERA in his last 7 starts... 2.03 if you exclude the game against Milwaukee... but to some people that isn't enough to be a 5th starter material

checking in at halftime - I've given up on Morgan - ie trying to figure how he has success up here - I guess I'll just stay in the moment and enjoy

Nice outing by Big Sam.. inducing the twin killer to end his outing.. economical..threw strikes.. kept the ball down in the zone.. save for the one mistake pitch to Eloy, he had an excellent outing..

@xmasbuck keeping CWSox hitters inbetween..filling the zone up down in out and back and forth.. Good for exploiting aggressive hitters like the ones wearing black and white..

He has one of the best changeups in baseball honestly... you don't often see a change up that goes in the mid to upper 70s and his fastball, even though is 90ish, it's got good movement as well... Then he normally has good command overall of these two pitches. Btw, last two starts he only had 85 pitches in each start...

Well, tomorrow we play for the series....against the team we can't compete against.

LaRussa will rest as many starters as he can.. More of a tune up for Giolito than anything else.. Perhaps the last outing of the season for McStix, as well..

Eli has allowed one earned run in his last 12 innings and beaten two of the three leading CY candidates - Lance Lynn and Garrett Cole, outpitching both of them by a wide margin in each game. Eli just keeps getting better and better. His line over his last two starts, against the Yankees and White Sox, is 12 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 W, 9 K's.

I thought the big test would be the 6th inning with the top of the order due up to face him for the third time. But he set down Anderson, Robert, and Abreu on five pitched, with Robert striking out on three pitches. Robert is hitting .379 since returning from his injury but he went 0-for-3 against Eli.

Hentges last four appearances have a combined line of 4.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 W, 7 K's.

Between Hentges, Francisco Perez, Mejia, Stephan, Sandlin, and maybe Gose we have the makings of a great young bullpen, and that's not even mentioning Clase and Karinchak.

Josie had a great game with 3 RBI's. I was impressed with the way Straw and Amed hustled down the line to beat out infield singles to set up the 3-run rally in the 6th that put the game out of reach.

Shocking to see Gimenez take Lynn deep, but even CY contenders throw bad pitches from time to time.

McKenzie against Lucas Giolito tomorrow. Giolito has allowed 12 ER's in his last 7 starts. This could be a very low scoring game.

Yep, Chisox highly motivated after clinching division; so much so they rested all their starters in game two of doubleheader yesterday.
