They had it all the way....

sure they did.. instant classic... we'll get to see this game in replays for a long time..

At least we can beat the White Sox scrubs. Maybe they'll start their JV tomorrow, too.

Plesac made his 24th start for the tribe tonight and leads us in starts for the season - Quantrill is second - - so if I told you on opening day....

Bieber to go 3 innings or 50-55 pitches tonight. It will be like a spring training start.

The Sox are going with 25-year-old Dylan Cease, 12-7, 4.09, who is wildly inconsistent. His home ERA is 3.22 against 5.02 on the road. In three September starts his ERA is 7.11. His last start he threw five scoreless innings against Texas, striking out 10, but in his previous start he was lit up by Boston for 7 runs in 2 innings.

He started against the Tribe on June 1 and gave up 8 hits and 6 runs in 3.1 innings at the Prog. He's had games where he threw 6 or 7 shutout innings. You never know whether this guy will be dominant, ineffective, or somewhere in between.

When this FO has sensed a real contender, it has not been shy about trading for an immediate need with long term attachment. But it has always done so at the break, and almost always for pitching.

This happens when it is comfortable with the depth it has at whatever position it is trading from.

It also has always happened when it knew it could go thru its normal season routine...40 games for tryouts, 40 games for evaluating what it has, and then addressing needs in late July.

The question is whether this season has taken the place of the first 80 games of next year in terms of tryouts and then roster evaluation.

The second question is whether the FO can change from pitching acquisition mode to player acquisition mode. It is very comfortable in pitching evaluation and in player prospect evaluation. Is it comfortable in MLB player evaluation?

They are now discussing two things this FO has never done....making a major off season trade that adds, instead of subtracts...and trading for MLB impact offense.

Along with health, which is pretty much out of their hands, the answer to those questions will decide next season before it even starts.

Hi Wham - is this something you pulled from a source or your opinion? I think this sounds about right. I think he will get 40 pitches, open ended. If after 3 innings he is cruising/perfect you might let him throw some more. Max count will be around 75, if he is really dialed in IMO.

Glad he is back and hope he has a good game.

Willis said Bieber will go 50-55 pitches...maybe three innings.
