2021 Series #30 | Rays @ Indians | July 22-25

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That might be it for Nick's career. Kinda sad, these guys are human, but that is just brutal. He's having the worst year of his career too.

The Rays are just so much better than us right now. They are insanely loaded with position players and have mastered the art of “the opener” with a ton of electric arms on their staff.

Back up the truck, back it up and Guardian the traffic into the new parking lot of downtown Cleveland. Rotten bums. Can't call em overpaid though.

Deja vu. For the second straight game the Indians defense and bullpen lets them down big time. Last night it was Johnson and Karinchak; tonight it was Josie and Wittgren.

Once again the Indians' Achilles heel did them in - the lack of two solid lefties in the bullpen. Wittgren hit Kiermaier, Wendle singled, and Choi launched one. Three lefties in a row and we didn't have an Oliver Perez to bring in. Sam Hentges is back but Tito loves his veterans.

The Little League home run in the second might have been the lowest point of the season. That was beyond embarassing. I can't believe they determined that all those runs were earned. Maybe it was because Kiermaier singled in the next at-bat so they figure the 2nd and 3rd runs would have scored even without Josie letting the ball fly out of his glove and then making a bad throw.

At least Josie broke out of his 2-for-19 slump and hopefully he'll get going. But it's too late now. At this point the Indians are in 6th place in the wild card standings behind Tampa, Oakland, Seattle, New York and Toronto. There's a better chance by far they finish behind Detroit in the division than that they make the playoffs.

If there was any doubt the Indians will be sellers it was settled the last two nights.

Well.....if they're "so much better than us" then why is it that we should have won both games of this series. A lead late in the game is blown in 2 games that we should have won.

Rays play 9 innings, we don't

Jose homered. It's 4-3. Might want to turn it back on.
Ya, I guess you were right. All season poor D has cost them runs in bunches. Just lately Hernandez hits a 3 run homer the next inning his poor in the field on 2 plays costs them 3 runs. In Thursdays game Johnson turns 2 plays into triples. The era for the pitching staff is better than what is shown.

Bullpen day for the Rays. Not good for the Tribe. The Rays can match up relievers against whoever is due up that inning all day long.

By the way, I used to be high on Harold Ramirez but not so much anymore. He continues to chase pitches out of the zone, in some cases so far outside that he throws his bat to try and make contact. He rarely elevates the ball and most of his hits are singles. He almost never walks. His OBP and power numbers are low. He's also a liability defensively.

If I were Tito I would tell him that he gets one bad swing per game. If he swings at two pitches well out of the zone in one game he's benched the next day. Force him to choose between playing or sitting. It will make him a much better hitter.

On an 0-2 count he automatically gets a slider low and outside, but he still chases them.

He has a chance to be Yandy Diaz if he can develop a little plate discipline. Yandy also hits almost exclusively on the ground and up the middle or to right field. I don't know if trying to get Harold to modify his swing so he puts more balls in the air will work. So let him do what he does best naturally, just force him to swing at better pitches.

Time to cut the cord on Whitgren.
