Our pen must've been heavily on it. The drop off is day and night. And other players aren't completely falling apart.

Sure hope you're wrong. I'm wondering if the injuries to three starters forced our bullpen to make more apearances that they should have and it's catching up to them now. Or is it going off the stickum? Karinchak has a 7.36 ERA in July. But it looks to me like the problem is he can't locate his fastball. It's either two feet above the strike zone or right down the middle. He should try getting ahead with his curveball and then throwing the heater. Even if he leaves it in the middle of the zone it will be harder to square up after a couple of slow curves. Our pen must've been heavily on it. The drop off is day and night.
Love to hear Jup’s take on this.Karinchak was an overt, aggressive user of the stuff beyond anyone else that I've seen. Whether or not he was just better at hiding it or actually more zealous in its application, I'm not sure. But his skid is slightly predictable.
I know this is sort of a meme, but is it possible that this is more of a moneyball-style thing?Death to flying things OF with Mercado in LF, Straw in CF, Zimmer in RF.
Here's Karinchak's line since MLB started testing:Sure hope you're wrong. ESPN originally had Dylan Cease listed as the starter for today but now they say it's to-be-determined. He's not on the injury list. Today is his turn in the rotation. I wonder what is going on.
We need Quantrill to go six today. Seven would be better. Shaw and Clase threw 23 and 24 pitches last night so they're out. Karinchak has pitched two days in a row. Wittgren might be the closer today if we get a lead in the 9th.
Mercado hit two line drives last night, including a huge double in the middle of the 5-run inning at the end of a long at-bat in which he didn't chase any bad pitches. I hope last night gets him going. He looked relaxed at the plate. With Luplow and Rosario being traded and Naylor injured it gives Mercado and Zimmer a golden opportunity to prove they should be in the plans for next season.
Harold looks a lot more comfortable in left than he did in right. It was great to see him get under a ball and line it over the centerfielder's head instead of his usual ground ball up the middle. Those two runs were the difference in the game.
Zimmer leading off - indians to straw - hay! 1 for 5 isnt good enoughDeath to flying things OF with Mercado in LF, Straw in CF, Zimmer in RF.
I think it's always been desired to have the best defenders in the OF as possible. The balancing act has been trying to get as much offense infused while keeping a desirable balance. Which do you think has been the bigger issue with our OFers, catching fly balls or hitting? Right now, the lack of offensive production has been detrimental to this team's success. Then again, the defense has been bad as well so either issue has been compounded IMO.I know this is sort of a meme, but is it possible that this is more of a moneyball-style thing?
With the change in launch angle and batter approach, there are more flyballs, which increases the value of range in the outfield. We're trying to exploit something that's currently undervalued?
So, his ratio is way up in CLE…nice!8th career barrel for straw in 600+ career plate appearances.
