2021 Series #35 | A's @ Indians | Aug. 10-12, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not even close. Ask yourself where we might be had our top 3 SP not gone down with injury and how that might have changed their deadline perspective. Like I've said probably 30 times, this team is on the verge.
On the verge of what - waving a white flag ???

I have seen other people on here saying they are a 5 game winning streak from being right in the playoff hunt. REALLY

The starting rotation has been a mess and still is. This team is no where close to on the verge unless you are talking about NEXT YEAR or maybe '23.

Here's what pisses me off about these types of games.
Attendance was 16,559.
Some people bought tickets that really couldn't afford them.
Maybe a kids birthday. Just to watch that crap.

ISTG, if I owned a team, and my team lost a game by 10 runs or more, everybody leaving gets a coupon good for another game.

Hopefully for a different team

In all fairness, that was 5 games ago.

Now we're just a 10 game winning streak away!

Kind of a disappointing debut for Frankie Pérez.

I didn't want to call out the poster, so I just used generalized terms versus digging up the posts.

However, in reference to your - "in all fairness".. "5 games ago" - that isn't real long for someone who is suppose to have the baseball IQ to be part of the machinery running a team. If you are that short sighted that you can't see the writing on the wall within 5 days, then there is a hell of a lot bigger problem then me posting something about it five days later.

Sorry, when you are an "expert" you are held accountable for what you say. That is what comes with the credential. No one would think twice about holding me to account for what I post about pitchers 5 days later or even a year. And I don't even claim to be an expert. An enthusiast yes, but that is as far as I will even take it.

This team is in a tailspin. The guys who were supposed to drive the offense are checked out. Josie is hitting .222 for the last 30 days. Franmil is 7-for-35 in August with 2 RBI's. Eddie Rosario was traded after hitting 7 home runs in over half a season. Bobby Bradley is hitting .152 over the last 30 days. The guys who were supposed to provide the muscle are either gone or are slumping badly.

We have a four-man rotation, one of whom pitched in AA in 2019, and the bullpen is taking on water. The defense has gone to hell at catcher and in the infield. The outfield is fine when we put Mercado, Zimmer, and Straw out there. That is the strength of the team right now and I'd be hard pressed to come up with any others. Even the bullpen is not that reliable any more and now that Sandlin is injured it's even worse.

We picked up a guy off waivers with a 6.26 ERA in the National League and he pitched today. He's 27 and his career record is 11-15.

I'll be surprised if we end up in second place in this division. We're actually in third place now by percentage points.

What happens if at that next game, they lose by 10 again? Now you forced that pore sole to waste 2 perfectly good evenings. Does he get a free beer? Kick player of choice in the nuts?

The latter would be a good enticement.

Possibly the most discouraging series of the year. In the first game the Indians had a chance to bury the A's early but a double play in the second limited them to three runs. They still got Mannaea out after 1.2 innings but where shut out by the A's bullpen on only one hit over the next 8.1 innings and lost in 10 when the bullpen failed.

They also were ahead most of the game in game 2 but lost late on another Jed Lowrie home run. In game 3 they were decimated.

I'm hoping this is rock bottom but who knows.
