2021 Trade Ideas and Deadline talk!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I want a more proven big leaguer in any trade involving Plesac. The proposals above seem high risk, high reward, which I’m not convinced is the direction the Tribe FO wants to go.

The philosophy of the Giants is this, work the count, take walks, and only swing at pitches you can drive. That’s why Farhan Zaidi so sought after players like Mike Tauchman and Tommy La Stella. In 2020, as a big leaguer, Joey Bart took three walks and struck out 41 times. That is a glaring problem. However, it’s fair to say he wasn’t ready for that level of competition.

In 2021, as a member of the Sacramento Rivercats, Joey Bart has taken 11 walks and struck out 50 times. This demonstrates that Bart hasn’t been able to correct this problem. The offensive philosophy employed by the Giants that has generated so much success is the opposite of what Joey Bart has shown to be as an offensive player.

This was a move to get us a catcher long term that some people have been wanting... I don't expect it to happen, but if we did go for a Bart trade, we would have to give up Plesac more than likely...

Thoughts:
If they can't trade Cesar, then they aren't trying.
I think they could sell high with Shaw. (And sign him back next year.)

Also, as far as who would play 2nd, here's an idea. Sign Jason Kipnis. He mentioned on IG he's looking to get more service time.
I really think all these kids could use a little veteran leadership. He can say, I've been there, done that. Here's what to look for.

I agree. Caesar seems to be a valuable(relatively) commodity at least in the sense that he has value. His batting average is squat, but whose isn't these days. We live in the boring world of .198 hitters with 24 homers. he plays solid D....someone surely wants him.

I agree on Shaw, especially since he's reverted back to Old Shaw of knowing what his outing is going to be like in the first 3 pitches.

Kipnis is contracted to the Braves in their MiL system, correct?

The Rays are a fascinating organization....just sent Rich Hill to the Mets for injured Tommy Hunter and 23 yr old A-ball Catcher, Matt Dyer (drafted in the 4th round in 2020). The Rays saved about 100K in the transaction, and I am sure Dyer has some possibilities, but not really close to a top, or especially intriguing prospect. It almost seems as if they just wanted to be rid of Hill. Hill had been struggling lately, but that seems like a light return for a viable starter at this point of the season.

I had similar thoughts. How often is a contending team shipping out a starting pitcher(especially with their #1 on the DL) at the trade deadline for 'prospects'? Really a bizarre move from an angle ignorant of the TB team.

My thoughts as well. And it’s not as if Hill has an expensive contract that needed pawned off either.

My hunch is Hill doesn't fit into the style of team that Tampa wants on the field... They do a lot of opening/follower while Hill just wants to pitch as many innings as possible!

Then why sign him in the first place? Very odd.....who doesn't want a decent, competent innings eater. But TB surely does know what they are doing, so there's that.

Giants are making top prospect C Joey Bart available for pitching help. If they want to let go of Robo next season, Bart would be a good pickup

What time did you start drinking this morning?

Are you willing to give up Plesac?

Exploring a Bart/Plesac trade..

Bart - has some K/plate discipline issues that may sink him. Also I do not know how good of D guy he is. Plesac and Hedges for Bart +?

Not for or against it.

I had a Plesac + Hernandez scenario made earlier if you want to check that out...

A Plesac trade better get some level of MLB experience in return.
