2022-2023 NBA Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Man Knicks arnt screwing around, gonna be a tough first round series

Knicks/Cavs matchup is exciting and i expect some random bums to drop 30 points on the cavs

Wasn't Embiid lit up like a Christmas tree in the playoffs by Trae Young?

Right now when it comes to postseason trust, Embiid has absolutely earned the least of three and its not even close.

So if you're worried about Jokic in the postseason..

Lulz...I'll take "Things that didn't happen for $800, Alex." Young shot less than 40% from the field that series and about 32% from 3. Try again sparky.

I love how Jokic gets a pass because of his teammates while Embiid is responsible that Ben Simmons doesn't want to shoot (it was in that series that Simmons famously passed on a layup in a key moment in Game 7).

Your takes have the consistency of my shits after a night of bar-hopping.

But I would expect nothing less from a Steeler fan.

"Embiid responsible for Trae Young" is an interesting take also.

Embiid does bear some responsibility for the Atlanta series debacle. Too many turnovers.

Philly came much closer than any other team to beating Toronto in 2019. Nevertheless Embiid has yet to see an ECF.

But there's no question only Giannis has proven much in the playoffs among the Big Three. Not really relevant for MVP but MVP isn't 1/10th as important as the Bill Russell award. Team sport, be the MVP of the Finals and WGAF about regular season MVP.

A few nice results in the East tonight. The Bulls beat the Sixers in Philly in OT; why can’t we ever get the version of James Harden that played tonight.…. 47 minutes and all of 5 points.

The Knicks wasted a career night from Julius Randle to lose at home to the Timberwolves playing sans Anthony Edwards.
And Towns....

In in regard to Joker. His offensive impact goes beyond his own buckets. He has a very high BBIQ, which opens in the game for anyone that is on the floor with him.

That said, Giannis IMHO is the best player in the league right now.. Embliid is excellent within his own context, but you could drop Giannis into just about any team in the league, and contend..

fwiw important to remember that MVP is a regular season award. Past and current playoff outcomes shouldn't really have any bearing otherwise quite a few players would have to give back their awards (looking at you Karl Malone)

Good thing for him MVP is still a regular season award, then...

Take Jokic off the Nuggets. Who scares you?

Take Embiid, or the refs, off the Sixers. You still have Harden (former League MVP), his refs, and Maxey.

Take Giannis off the Bucks. You still have Holiday, Brook Lopez (DPoY fav), and Khris Middleton.

If the Nuggets weren't losing, it'd still be Jokic.....then everyone else. Since they're in a slump, now we're relitigatng irrelevant history.

If I take Jokic out I would be scarred of his brothers.

I love the random hostility when talking about players not even on the Cavs team.

"Jokic gets a pass for his teammates" is a nice way of putting "Denver was missing their 2nd and 3rd best players last year."

Embiid's excuse for getting throttled by the Heat last year? Scored 19 points a game. Shot 42% from the field. Was completely outplayed all series long by Bam Adebayo.

Historically, Embiid has shrank in the postseason. ALl of his career postseason numbers are down from his regular season ones. Including the advanced ones, and some drastically so. His game hasn't elevated at all and thus, he's never managed to get out of the 2nd round.

Now, that doesn't have any bearing on who is the regular season MVP this year, but it kinda goes to show your take that Jokic, and not Embiid, is the one in danger of being exposed in the playoffs is not based in reality at all.

Embiid, not Jokic, is the one who has drastically underperformed his regular season output.

From a 27 ppg scorer down to 21. From a 49% shooter down to 46.8.

Win shares, BPM, VORP are all significantly down. Across the board, he underwhelms when the lights get bright.

Unfortunately, that was kind of a given. I can’t remember the last time he played even though he‘s been “close to returning “ for quite awhile now.
Well Towns and Edwards are thier 2 best players. The Knicks have been hot, so I was surprised the Wolves were even in it..

FWIW, Towns has been officially upgraded to QUESTIONABLE for their Wednesday game (Edwards is also questionable)

Minny could make a run.. there are 8 teams in contention for that last spot still..

I think LA is out .. tough schedule, no LeBron AD day to day.. OKC making a run, could easily catch a mediocre GS.. Even the Clips are not a shoe in..
