I was not. I also suggest you shouldn’t compare what Jose had accomplished in his career to that point to what Straw had prior to this season.
My direct answer to your question aside I can’t help but notice that I’m still waiting on a number of PAs bub. You won’t answer because you know deep down that Straw is exactly what we’re seeing this season. That’s why this Straw issue is tying so many people in knots. It’s not because he stinks but they have confidence he’ll suddenly rebound and have a great close to the season. It’s because they know he won’t.
Hey bub, glad to hear you weren't one of those absolute morons from 2019
In your last post you mentioned Straw has 320 plate appearances this season of being the worst hitter in baseball. While that might be true, as the resident rational thinking expert, I'd point out, bub, that Straw had a very productive April in 93 plate appearances. .291 / .387 / .380
So his slump, which has been horrible, is truly only over his past 227 plate appearances. As the resident rational thinking expert (you said it, not me), I know that it's not rational to make sweeping judgements based off a sample size consisting of 1/3 of a season.
As far as deep down not having confidence in Straw rebounding, that's absolutely not true. He has a substantial sample size of success and brings plenty to the table from a defensive and baserunning perspective. Despite not being able to hit for a lick for the past 2 months, he's still been walking at a respectable rate (11% since 5/1 and 9% since 6/1), striking out at a reasonable rate (15.9% since 5/1 and 19.7% since 6/1) while bringing elite base running and elite defense to the table. I'm not suggesting he'll absolutely turn it around this season- he very well may not, same with Franmil. But I'm not willing to give up on either guy as I believe both are good players.
You're not going to see me defending guys like Owen Miller, Ernie Clement, etc. because those guys don't have any track record of success at the major league level nor do they possess some of the elite traits that we see from some of the slumping players like Franmil (immense power) and Straw (baserunning, defense, OBP). Edit- Straw's OBP isn't elite, but above average.
If he's still in the gutter 12 months from now I'll be more inclined to want to move on.
I realize this is probably a waste of time because you'd probably prefer sit, whine, and call anyone bub who doesn't agree with you
