2022 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So what's the deal with Michigan State? Did they lose a bunch of the transfers that were on last year's roster? Did Walker carry them that much offensively?
It's a good question, there were high expectations for them this year.

I'd like to know as well. Haven't got a chance to catch any of their games yet.

Michael Penix Jr is biggest enigma at QB I've ever seen.

Look at his career. It's a Rollercoaster that feels unmatched.

Currently Washington leads the country in passing yards per game.

Indiana had a solid offense when he was qb. Their defense was the problem.

His OC from Indiana is now the HC at Washington.

Also, I think he held together by duct tape on 2021. Basically not playing for a year might’ve been the best thing for him

Their secondary is insanely bad; as in one of the worst 30 pass defenses in the country. They can’t really run the ball worth a fuck either. They’re just really bad. The secondary being absolutely awful is a pronounced issue because remember — coaching secondaries is how Tucker got where he is.

You also have to think though, MSU exceeded expectations to an absurd degree in 2021. Their over under on wins was 4.5 I think; this is more of a regression to where they were initially expected to be in the process. If I were a fan though, the lack of defensive improvement is concerning; we know how irritating that is as OSU fans over the past few years.

Week 5: This is my first week heavily starting to take in consideration SOS, Total Offense and Defense, and the eye test. Less bias here, but I'll still probably favor a B1G school over an SEC school if it's really close.

I also really favor undefeated teams. Are Kansas and Syracuse truly two top-25 programs this year? Probably not, but they haven't lost yet so they're ranked until they prove they don't deserve to be.

He has never played more than 6 games in a season.

He had a 68% completion rate his redshirt freshman year and then a 53% rate last year.

He was awful last year and I get the " he was injured" thing but...he's literally always been injured his whole college career.

Just no way of figuring out if he's good or not.

Even at his best, he was never very accurate. But he has a strong arm and an make big plays. Having the right coaching who understands what a player is good at is key.

LSU's in, but 3-1 Maryland - who's only loss is by a touchdown to #6 scuM at the Pig House - is out???

I had Maryland in my top-25 until I really dove into the numbers just a bit.

LSU's SOS is #12 in the country, Maryland's is #34.
LSU's offense rating is #50 and their defense is #8.
Maryland's offense rating is #22 and their defense is #45.

They're pretty close all things considered. I'm giving the edge to LSU right now due to their seemingly elite defense and better SOS up to this point. Their only loss is a one point loss to my #12 team and their win over Miss St. is better than Maryland's win over SMU in my opinion.

Maryland is probably in the #26-#29 range for me right now though. Just missed.

68 is pretty good.

My point ultimately is that 1) He's never played many games in a single season to get a good read on him

2) In his short amount of games played, he's had some good to very good seasons and then a really, really bad season.

Now, if the really bad season came early and he progressed, that makes sense. But it has, instead, went the opposite.

Now he's having another really good season.

Odd player imo.

He’s definitely been injury prone. But I do give Kalen Deboer a lot of credit for his success this year.

Penix strikes first; 4th and 6 he doesn’t give a fuck and goes 33 yards down the field for the score

Glad UCLA upheld the big tens honor!
