2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where in the hell did you pull "Draper, Young etc" from? I never mentioned them because they are below Tully, McCarty and Scott who are already expendable IMO. They were never part of my conversation coach and they don't need to be a part of it now because they're non-factors.

You sounded like they were first to go before anyone else... if you think I am joking, I am not. You literally said those three are the first to go and I countered they are no way near being expendable... They actually are main cogs at AAA and good organizational depth.

As starting pitchers coach. Unless I'm mistaken they are part of Columbus' starting rotation with the guys you mentioned getting spot starts. Regardless, they're none factors and we shouldn't be having this conversation because it has no value. Just like McCarty, Scott, Tully, Young and Draper. You literally have to be looking for an argument to even bring it up. :conf (11):

Naw, You didn't say starters though, you just said first three to go lol

Also I really do think that they wouldn't have added McCarty and spot started Tully if they didn't think they couldn't be productive in the bigs. They will be kept over the random bullpen arms.

I personally had all three guys being long relief guys/inning eaters in the bigs. TJ McFarland types...

and where in the fuck is TJ McFarland? That's the point. They're expendable roster fodder/place holders. They have little to no value and will be ousted as soon as their roster spot is needed. Including the 5'8" McCarty.

He has been pitching every single season since we lost him in the Rule 5... Cardinals this season

So nothing impressive but still around in his 30s...

That's were I have those three guys... that type of career, which isn't great but not horrible.

I have to agree with CDAV45 here.

There are too many good pitching prospects, starters and relievers, to hold onto 'not great, but not horrible' relievers.

McFarland has had little to no value in his career. He has been selected in R5, waived once, and otherwise let go for zero return six other times. He is not a shining example of value...or what the Guardians are looking for as a piece of the MLB pitching staff.

For this year, Tully and McCarty have their space right after Pilk because Myers and Battenfield were not ready. McCarty is putting up decent numbers. However, if they need to go to him next year over a Curry, Allen Jr or Espino then we are in trouble. As you know, Guardians are actually going to get rid of several "random" relievers like Shaw, Gose, Castro, Ramirez .... because on the trade market none of these guys nor Tully or McCarty will bring you more than an A ball lotto ticket.

We will see McCarty again soon as we have 4 DH in 4 weeks starting at end of June. Yet, that will be kind of what he is for us. He may (probably) latch on another team and be their Tomlin, Pultko, .... but even with injuries, he maxes out as an average 5th starter. However, a 5th starter for us means beating out the Allen Jr, Curry, Burns, Hankins ..... and even 1/2 of these guys will be in our pen for 1-2 years battling for that 5th spot.

But, one thing to notice SC, is not who the Guard brings up how they are used. They wont bring up some no name guy ... but they are not also going to bring up a legit prospect either too early. I was kind of shocked when they brought up McCarty a 2nd time without COVID designation, making him a full 40 man roster (subject to being cut). But, they also didnt use him in 3-5 games while up including a DH). This is because he is just an inning eater that can be replaced as he wont be in a high leverage position other than if we are already using a Pilk/Morgan for other spot starts. But, if either Battenfield or Myers revert to last year form for 4-5 game stretch, they are next call up over McCarty/Tully.

Yeah, the dam is going to break if it isn't relieved soon. I suspect it will be, and some of that relief will come from dealing some SP from the upper levels including Cleveland. It's going to be interesting.

What we need is to see Battenfield, Myers, Morris and Pilkington get some ML starts and they can't all do that if they're not healthy(Morris) or underperforming(Myers). I wonder if we won't see another "glute cramp" or 3 prior to the deadline. lol!

Plesac is good as gone IMO. We need him to pitch his ass off between now and then.
I don’t know that will help increase his trade value.

What's the diagnosis with Williams? Hoping nothing broken in his glove hand?

I am not against Benson replacing Mercado on the roster to be honest. I think it's very possible when the season ends/second half of the year to see a swap... we just gotta make sure everyone gets good ABs since all those guys in the mix are young and a work in progress in one way or another.

3H 2K and 4BB in 4 innings is solid?? Damn handing out the As just for turning something in.

You are looking to into the numbers to much, but either way I think what @CDAV45 was referring to was he is looking a lot better and he is going towards the positive side of things.

Where do you think Kelly ends up in the organization? In the bullpen?

I do not think " he is looking a lot better and he is going towards the positive side of things." at all.

Also looking at the simple box score is not looking into the numbers too much, but keep telling yourself whatever nonsense you want.

I am not a Myers fan and the only "good" thing he did in his lousy 4 innings is not give up a homer.

You don't have to be a fan to be honest, I am just saying you cannot take everything the numbers say at face value. Let's see how his second half is and if he honestly looks bad with his second half numbers, then we can worry.
