2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Me: Huh, I wonder who they picked for SS between Arias and Rocchio.
Them: Jose Tena.
Me: Uhh... ok...
Also them: And Jhonkensy Noel in the outfield
Me: What?
Them: You like that? Want some more? Here's geriatric David Fry at third base. Eat it up Cleveland.

Well it doesn't help we didn't have players really play only one position, so they didn't really have anyone to pick from that way lol

I mean, who produced while playing 3B and Noel did play most of his innings in the OF...

Aka I am not agreeing with their decisions, but some positions you didn't have any choices lol

Even leaving the position issues out, no Arias, no Angel, nothing about the seasons Benson and Jones posted, nothing for Bibee, the list, as if it were even valuable to begin with, goes on.

Tena hit .368/.478/.632 at AAA. How can you not give it to him? And if you don't think that matters it clearly was worth 1 out of 3 sentences.

Didn’t see this posted a couple weeks ago, but just to get it in for reference on our pitching strength after last year’s draft (21)

Would you look at that fucking Akron rotation! I mean that's just stooooopid.

The above list is obviously flawed, as are all such lists.

This list of position players is based solely on offense, and Martinez clearly had the best offensive numbers of all our MIF prospects.

Since so many of our MIFs played multiple positions, the list can put them about anywhere in the infield.

Personally, my picks would have been Martinez and Rocchio at the keystone, with Fry (who played most of his games there) at third. Tena and Arias didn't put up the offensive numbers of Martinez, Rocchio, or Fry.

In the outfield, Noel over Benson is another faux pas.

It's a list of who had the best minor league season, not who is the best prospect...and since its only one choice per position, other prospects with solid years don't get mentioned.

Pries...and Fry...won their positions by default, although they both had good years.

Doesn't mean much but only 3 Cle players in AFL all-star game -- Fry, Stanley and Hickman. So no Smith, Torres, Martinez or Kokx. Don't mean to be negative but when you have an AL and NL All-star team out of a total 6 teams and have 4 catchers and 16 pitchers per team ... means 25-50% are named all-stars.

Stanley had a very good game the other day and Hickman has been very good since he switched to the bullpen... Fry will get some big league time eventually...

For those who don't do twitter, CleGuardPro is doing his top-50 (one at a time). Don't know if we want to go through them one-by-one here or just group every 5 to 10 when they come in as a group.

#50- Davenport (Proj - possibly 4th/5th starter) - 6th round 2021 (at LC all year)

Last 4 - 25.2(IP) 17H 3R 3ER 3BB 28SO 1.05 ERA

Issues with walks all year (52 walks in 117 innings for 1.32 WHIP but .224 BAbip) but could be changing delivery to Cleveland way due to improvement in last 4 games.

Arsenal (per article) - Davenport offers a four-pitch mix that features a signature mid-70's hammer curveball that is already plus or better. His fastball sits 88-92 mph and can touch 94 mph. He has an average changeup that has potential to develop more and become another above average pitch. He added a slider to his arsenal prior to the 2022 season.

The Arizona Fall League championship game is 10 minutes from starting.. there are no Guardians playing as they were defeated earlier in the week.. here are the starting lineups:

Should be a great evening of baseball..

Not sure where this fits but it’s worth watching.

For SC, your kid is starting to heat things up in PR ... But, we got to remember, this is his FA year (7th season for 23) but he is only 23. And, hitting .206 and 40% strike out rate in 28 games at the end of the year in Akron didn't really help his stock. And, starting the year in AA with Palacios, Benson and Brennan battling for the 4th OF slot (5th will be Naylor/Arias), he has a tough road to climb to even get a cup of coffee in Cleveland.
