2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I really think they wanted to move on from Fox. But Fox has no value around the league because of his contract. They took BPA which I always respect. I don't think Sengun changes things for Sacramento. The bad move wasn't drafting Mitchell. The bad move was giving up on Haliburton because Fox had no value around the league.
Don't disagree with that. Mitchell was not BPA on my board at the time so I didn't love the pick, but if your plan is to rebuild around hali/mitchell I could get behind that. Of course they couldn't dump Fox so its all moot

Majority of the board will not love this as Spinella/Box and One have three SG's as their choice (Davis, Agbaji, Branham)

Spinella seems to think that Davis, as the lone wolf/best offensive player by a country mile on Wisconsin, took a lot of hard shots that he would not have to take next to Garland. He also lauds Davis for being a plus defender who never took plays off even though he was also a high usage energy burner on offense for Wisconsin. He has Davis as #10 on his big board.

Not enough to convince me, but I like when guys lay out their case for why they like a player because it allows for accountability when you check back after 2-3 years.

Instead of using one-and-done as a qualifier and instead using age, 60% of Koby’s first round picks have been 19u and 89% have been 20u at the time of being drafted..

I do wonder if this might knock down some older players like TyTy Washington (a freshmen but will be 21 in November), Tari Eason (21.1 at time of draft) or MarJon Beauchamp (20.7 at time of draft, is age of some sophomores/juniors, which is considering considering his development)..

And vice versa, maybe bump up guys like Dalen Terry (19.9 at time of draft despite being sophomore) or Johnny Davis (20.3 at time of draft despite being sophomore)..

Despite being a younger junior (21.2 at time is draft), Jalen Williams would be outside the threshold a bit for the age profile Altman tends to like early..

I think the Cavs will select a player that they think will be able to play both the SG and SF in lieu of Sexton's upcoming departure imho.

My guess is that they will try to take two players in the 1st round that will fill both positions. Jalen Williams provides the ability to play both positions and he checks a lot of boxes for them offensively...so he should really be up there.

Branham is a guy that fits the scoring archetype well as well.

Honestly, my crazy guess is that it's going to be Marjon/Jalen duo pick, or the Marjon/Malaki duo pick.

This would put Jaden Ivey next to Trae Young and would be a brilliant trade on Atl's part

With how poorly the team looked without Jarrett Allen last year, I’d be really intrigued by drafting a center at #39 to groom and eventually provide some spot minutes when needed..

Christian Koloko’s stats looked pretty crazy and seems like he’s be a good potential fit.. ESPN also mentioned Jarrett Allen when describing Israel Kamagate’s game too..

I know we also thought #56 would be a draft and stash, but I’d be all on board with it being a two-way contract for Julian Champagnie or Jabari Walker too..

I am not against that idea.

I think part of the reason they struggled so much without Allen is that it led to Love playing more minutes than he should have and Markannen shifting over to PF minutes too.

So another solution to safeguard for Allen missing time is to have a backup PF who is a plus defender and can play with Mobley when Mobley has slid over to center.

If John Collins nets the Hawks the #4 pick, I'd feel absolutely sick if the Cavaliers couldn't get a Lottery pick for Sexton.
There's no way that Collins would be the only piece

It would be Collins, 16, other players/picks for 4 and bad contracts.

More importantly, Collins is signed to a long term contract and therefore could be traded at any time.

Sexton is not currently under contract and as an RFA can't even be traded until July 1st.

But really most importantly, Legion Sports is trash and not to be taken seriously.

And to think quite a few on this forum (you know who you are) would've preferred us get the experience of getting spanked by Miami 4-0 or 4-1 than the opportunity to get a critical piece.
We've been getting pieces every year. I'm one of those who wanted the Cavs to make the playoffs. I doubt there's a huge number of people who would have not been ok with getting a playoff berth. Its time to win.

Guys I don't think the 4th pick is involved in that supposed John Collins trade.

I realize its the Kings. So they do stupid shit. But why would they even trade for Collins? Collins - Sabonis would likely be the worst defensive front court in the league.

One thing I found interesting about this pod was that in discussion of the second rounders I heard the name Max Christie mentioned. I know someone on this board was VERY high on him well before the draft. Would be interesting if the Cavs actually picked him.
